Alexandra Benaim of Los Angeles on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Alexandra Benaim shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Alexandra, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Such an interesting question….I truly find joy in regimen. Waking up early, jumping on my trampoline, listening to my inspiring audios everyday, yoga, calling boutiques. That is actually what brings me joy. Things that make me feel I am bettering myself everyday. So I guess I feel true joy everyday.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alexandra, and I have been running Kin Amora, a clothing line handmade in Morocco for the last 9 years.
What I personally believe makes my brand so special is the fabric we use. It is an unparalleled softness that differentiates us from what else is on the market. We cater to all age groups and body types. If you like comfort, you’ll love us.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
GREAT GREAT GREAT question. Dancing in my room for hours when I was a little girl. It was joy that I could claim as my own. Oh and organizing, I used to love organizing my stationary. I really respond to order.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
This is a big one. It taught me to see the silver lining.
On some level, I do believe we create our own suffering. We call it in on a soul level to change us hopefully for the better.
I will also say suffering has taught me to be more patient and more self-focused so that I can live the life I have always dreamed of.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That it is oversaturated. I think clients/customers are buying you. So you can make space for you to succeed based off how much love you put into yourself and whatever you are working on and then the more that will show up externally. Life will always be a mirror in that sense. Does that make sense?

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I am not sure actually because I cannot speak for others but I think I am gifted at understanding both sides to any situation and it can be mostly beneficial at times. In personal cases though, I’ve had to work on standing up for myself regardless of me understanding the other party.
