alex santos of Montebello on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to alex santos. Check out our conversation below.

alex, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
First 90 minutes of the day starts off by walking to the living room where my home studio is set up is to turn on the light ,then my computer, mixer, turntable and piano. Then i go to the kitchen make some coffee prep that then i go back to the studio, start practicing piano, a few finger exercise and then study some music theory. After i practice i pick a random record from my collection and i get to zone out to whatever is playing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is Alex Santos I was born in Los Angeles, California, My Parents are from El Salvador and Guatemala.
I got into music in high school, my friends at the time were into rapping, free styling so i got into that.. Then i got more into making beats so that was its own journey because it got me into collecting records. I was discovering all types of genres and interesting sounds. So making sample base music got me into playing the piano because i wanted to know how to compose music so i took bunch of Music classes at Elac, Lacc and Los Angeles Valley college. Now forward to years later i’m recording putting my music on vinyl mostly all on 45 and its being received very well in the record collectors/Dj community worldwide. So at the moment i’m working on some original compositions and hope to have release by next year independently.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My Dad Carlos Santos, He’s retired now but he worked in Roofing all his life and was his own boss. I work with him and understood something that hard work and making honest living was something to be proud of.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
No lol kinda just kept it moving

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you need them to be successful..

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When i’m with my family.
