Hidden Gems: Meet Tammy Gibson of Tough Like Tammy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Gibson.

Tammy Gibson

Tammy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My entrepreneurial journey has been a series of edits, full of unique and wonderful opportunities and pivots. Each new experience led to a deeper understanding of who I am as a businesswoman.

I worked in the fashion and beauty industry for 15 years as a top-rated blogger. I am an OG mom blogger who used the power of blogging to encourage moms to maintain their style after becoming a mother. I traveled for blogging gigs, participated on expert panels, served as an ambassador and consultant to brands wanting to increase their influence in the marketplace.

During my blogging career, I became quite intrigued with personal branding, messaging, and the power of women who show up for themselves.

Never before had I experienced the power of women on a mission.

Using my skills and knowledge of the online entrepreneur space, I began to help other women create captivating brands that were unmatched by others so they could create greater visibility and recognition for their businesses.

In October of 2021, I became very sick and spent 4 months in the hospital. Suffering many physical and emotional challenges, including the amputation of my right leg, I’ve come through my storm stronger than ever.

Today, I am on a mission to empower women to raise the bar on Mindset, Impact, and Faith to elevate their careers and brands by sharing my story of resilience and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is never a smooth road. We all experience trials and tragedies along the journey. Through them, we build our resilience and learn a lot about ourselves.

Getting sick and losing my business was a huge obstacle I had to overcome. As a solopreneur, if you are not running your business, it just stops. I took a huge emotional hit. Being an entrepreneur was a large part of my identity.

I was offline for a year because I was still very sick, and it took another year to commit to coming back online with an offer.

Once I was healthy, I began to consider how I wanted to come back to my business. I had to do some deep soul-searching to determine what I truly desired, how I wanted to show up, and what I had energy for.

I needed to make sure that the comeback was stronger than the setback!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tough Like Tammy?

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Great question! Thank you for asking!

God is my strength and healer. I am grateful for His grace.

I have the most amazing Tough Like Tammy team (Team TLT). It includes my clients, online community, local community, friends, and family. At the foundation is my husband, Larry. He has been my number-one cheerleader and advocate.

My kids and parents are at the top of the list, as well as a handful of very special friends. Their support in the simple things like rides to appointments, bringing me Starbucks, and sweeping my floor has meant more than anyone realizes.

Of course, their emotional support, pushing me to be my best, and celebrating every little win with me have kept me moving forward.

With my recent physical challenges, I have a team of physical therapists, prosthetic/orthotics, physicians, and Pilates instructors that have supported my healing.

I believe my community support has been the key reason I’ve been able to thrive over the past 2 years. I am so blessed by them. This is just the beginning!
