Meet Yael Brudner, Founder of Brudner Law, Immigration

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yael Brudner.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Yael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey to where I am today – the founder and owner of Brudner Law- was definitely not a traditional one. I was born in Maryland to Immigrant parents from Israel. They came to the U.S. in the late 70’s on a work visa. When I was nine years old, we moved back to Israel, where I spent most of my childhood and early adulthood.

As mandatory in Israel, I enlisted in the Israeli Army at age 18, after I graduated from high school. My experience in the army was nothing like I had expected. Looking back, these were some of the best years of my life that really shaped the person that I am today!

After my honorable discharge from service, I enrolled to the University of Haifa and there I completed my Law degree… In the summer of 2003, between semesters, I traveled to India for a couple of months. It was there that I met my amazing husband Boaz. Boaz is also Israeli and was also traveling on his summer break. We have been inseparable ever since!

At that time, Boaz was the first person I ever met that actually won the diversity lottery (the “Green card lottery”), we knew it was a sign that we should explore a life the U.S! It’s not everyday someone wins the lottery, right?

So thats what we did! Shortly after I completed law school and passed the tough Israeli bar exam, we got married in a beautiful celebration. We moved to the U.S., just the two of us, with two suitcases and our American dream. We settled in Orange County in 2007 and have been here ever since. Though we didn’t have any family or friends in OC (or in the U.S!) we quickly found an amazing community here. Today our friends, many of whom are Israeli immigrants, are like our family, our village, with whom we celebrate the good times and are there for each other on the not-so-great times.

Throughout the years here, I have been privy to many of our friend’s “Immigration journeys”. Some have had a smooth path, and others had challenges along the way, but the one thing everyone had in common was the sense of uncertainty they felt during the process of applying for their immigration status- their visas, green cards and citizenship. Some often described it as if they were holding their breath throughout the entire process… I had firsthand understanding of this and a deep connection to U.S. immigration, so when I had to decide which field of law to practice in the US – I knew Immigration was the one I could serve people the best!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a mother of 3 young boys (12, 8 and 6), and business owner, life is a balancing act! The struggle intensified tremendously these last several months during Covid-19 when the kids were doing distance learning. Running a law firm is definitely not a 9-5 job and in order to spend time with the kids and support them when needed, I often find myself working very early in the morning and late at night. I am so fortunate to have so much support from Boaz and our friends – it truly takes a village!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Brudner Law is a boutique immigration law firm located in Newport Beach, California. We practice immigration law exclusively and represent clients throughout the U.S and all over the globe.

Our clients are U.S citizens or permanent residents that petition the government to have their family members- their spouses, children, parents and siblings- reunite with them in the U.S. Our clients are also international entrepreneurs that dream to start their own businesses here, students interested in perusing an American education and multinational companies inspiring to expand their business and transfer employees to the U.S.

Immigration is a complex and unique area of the law and it is constantly changing. In the last few years, we have experienced a huge shift in policies and regulations, sometimes even on a daily basis! There are days where we go to sleep at night with a case ready to be filed with immigration the next day and wake up in the morning to a new government policy or case law that could change the outcome and our approach in that same case!

What makes us unique? We know first hand what the immigration process entails – my family immigrated to the U.S on a visa and my husband- he won the green card lottery! We know that when you are in the process of immigrating to the U.S, there is a natural sense of uncertainty because you are waiting for someone else to decide on your future. That is why we always communicate with our clients and keep them informed about their case. Each case is different, and we create individual strategic plans for each of our clients. Our mission is to help our clients navigate through the complex process- holding their hands every step of the way!
