Meet Soul Larouge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Soul Larouge.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Soul. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts on a goat ranch in the corn fields of Southern Ohio. I grew up in a small town of approximately 20,000 people. Growing up in that sort of place taught me a lot about myself – and most importantly, taught me that my happiness and dreams wouldn’t be found there. In addition to that, to never settle on things as important as your dreams, no matter how much resistance you may be met with. Fast forward to my 18th birthday, and you’ll find me on I-70 heading west to Denver, Colorado. I didn’t even stick around to blow out my candles. I was pretty ruthless about the dream chasing thing. That’s when things began to take off for me – in regards to the whole modeling and creative pursuit. I found myself in Colorado and five years later I decided it was time to go look for more elsewhere – and here I am! Celebrating my one year anniversary in Los Angeles. My most recent project, Tableau Larouge: A Rare Breed, is my debut at testing out my Directing and Producing abilities. It highlights the rarities of the MC1R gene, with all the beauties and frustrations that come with being a female ging in the freckled flesh.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been the rockiest road, with plenty of blow outs and breakdowns. But fortunately, I invested in a 4×4 because I predicted as much. The difficulties started on that I-70 drive. It’s 2am, I’m starving and tired in Kansas City. Where do you stop at 2am? Steak N’ Shake, duh. Not only did I stop for a nice, greasy meal, but I left my bag that had two thousand in cash, my driver’s license, social security card and birth certificate organized neatly all in one place so I wouldn’t lose it. Fortunately, so I realize this when I reach my car and immediately turn around. My bag with everything I needed to start my new life was definitely NOT at the register where I left it. And none of the employees were kind enough to step forward despite my tearful, 18 year old, really-wishing-life-didn’t-suck-so-bad-that-I-found-myself-here-in-the-first-place-pleading. Fortunately, identity theft was something I never had to encounter, but I did live in a garage in the middle of winter for the first couple of months in my new Denver life while I pulled some crazy strings to make that money back. A couple of years later I broke my pelvis and lower spine in a car accident, but that’s another story for a different interview.

Soul Larouge – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a model, my brand is essentially myself and what I can bring to the grand table that is our world. I’m well aware of the power and fragility that are the legs of said table – so I’m always trying to be my best self. That being said, I understand my best won’t look the same every day. I stand for universal love, all encompassing health, and the endless trek that is self-improvement. I’m most proud of my ability to withstand the worst criticism to standing by my beliefs, be they controversial and sometimes hard for the average humanoids to understand. Inarguably so, these things are what I am known for, and what I am proud to be known for.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that one can pursue virtually anything here and be successful. I like least the personal anxiety and buzzing I feel from not being able to experience the silence that comes with having a yard amongst other things that smaller cities are usually known for. I’m a country girl to the bone, what can I say?
