Meet Tancred Vilucchi of Maison Vilucchi in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tancred Vilucchi.

Tancred, please share your story with us.
After traveling to America as a young boy, I fell in love with the energy, positive outlook, and zest for life in the people living in the States. People’s boldness and imaginative dreaming translate itself into infinite and limitless possibilities here. At the age of 5 I took my first trip to America to visit my Aunt and Uncle who lived in New York. The first place I visited was Manhattan, and instantly I felt the vibrant, moving energy from the city. Throughout my childhood I continued to visit different cities in the States, and each time I grew more and more attracted to the free-thinking culture of Americans, and have fallen in love with this country ever since.

Born to a French mother and Italian father, I gravitated towards the creative processes involved in building and design very early on in my life. I began working on construction sites with my father as soon as I could walk. He taught me everything about construction that I couldn’t get from formal schooling. Most of my knowledge, however, was obtained through trying things out myself, and making discoveries and self-corrections directly on the job. The different designing and building elements naturally flowed through my arms and hands. I really feel like I was gifted with a passion and technical skills that have ultimately built my businesses. I learned much about the industry myself through experience and by crossing paths with different people open to sharing their wisdom. These people instilled in me that there are absolutely no boundaries and limitations on the human mind and what we can create with a clear vision, hard work, and passion.

With my tendency to go against the grain and question everything, naturally, school was not the setting for my energy and eye for design. My fiery work ethic acquired through my hands-on construction training, along with being a visual dreamer, eventually led to me opening up my first building company. My company was known for high-quality designs and eclectic, decorative furniture, and a meticulous amount of attention to detail. Beginning as a general contractor, I then moved into interior and exterior design, which catapulted me into doing real estate development in France for luxury properties that we entirely decorated and furnished.

After my wife gave birth to our first son, I decided to live out my dream of building my business in America. And during the move, my wife and I continued to move, and made our second beautiful baby boy! I viewed this regional transition as the challenge of a lifetime, and I have since been using this outlook to fuel my pursuits of being a successful design and building consultant in Los Angeles. Why Los Angeles? Well, firstly because of the weather! But it is also the healthy lifestyle, positivity, and passion that runs throughout this big city, all of which contribute to my abundantly flowing stream of inspiration.

In LA, I am surrounded by like-minded individuals who dare to be creative, make things happen, and my personal favorite, break the rules. I love and appreciate the diversity that stretches from the beach to the mountains to downtown. Using the different aspects of the city, coupled with all of the colorful and daring ideas darting through my mind at every minute, I am free to create extravagant properties that ultimately break and transcend the typical design standards.

I want my clientele to feel an intense explosion of happiness while working with my team. I built Maison Vilucchi to extend and share my beliefs that anything is possible from moving across the world in pursuit of a dream, to “over-the-top” ideas translated into your home right before your eyes.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am an optimist with the understanding that nothing is smooth when you dream BIG and dare to be different! And this is especially true when you are a self-made man in a new country. I believe that every obstacle is an opportunity to learn how to do something better!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
As a Design & Building consulting company, we specialize in creating unique properties that reflect and are personalized to the owners.

Our team offers full-concept services beginning with the concept, and continuing throughout the stages of development, until the only thing our client needs to do is turn the key and step into the living space of their dreams.

Maison Vilucchi is known for professionalism, rigor, exquisite taste and creativity, but also for being an energetic idea generator. We believe in forming artistic fusions that combine different design elements and styles.

I don’t believe in having one signature or recognizable aesthetic because every project is different. Each one presents the opportunity to invent a new style that is a mixture of the client’s personality, likes, and wants with my experience and inclination to transform an existing design or concept.

As the U.S. branch President of Serenite Luxury Monaco, a company skilled in creating custom-made furnishings, my clientele’s living spaces are draped in one-of-a-kind pieces which reveal their unique likes and interests.

In the initial stages of the design process, I embark my clients on an intimate journey where I ask a storyline series of questions to get to know the multiple layers that make them distinct, special individuals. We then merge minds to visualize their future home. By getting to the core of the homeowners, I revolutionize the soul of their living space.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I absolutely despised and defied the rules. I used every opportunity I could to bend and shape the rules to see fit with my lifestyle. This resistance is due to my innate desire to draw outside of the lines, so to speak. With the energy, passion, and ideas I have, living within the box has always been a challenge of mine. My questioning and bending has translated itself into my businesses and is perhaps the fuel to my colorful work.

As an epicurean, I appreciate the different tastes, sights, and sounds of life. The sounds in my speakers expand across genres and time eras, just as my palette is open to tasting and cooking cuisines from various different cultures and diet preferences. I love bringing people together, and hosting guests in my home to foster a sense of community and love. I believe that tasty food, aged wine, and intimate conversations do an incredible job at strengthening relationships.

My affinity for California and its laid back culture fostered my liking for surfing and snowboarding. And throughout my lifetime, my love for vintage cars and motorcycles continues to grow fonder.

All in all, I love to live life with an open mind, break the rules, and shift existing paradigms.
