Hidden Gems: Meet DJ iSizzle

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ iSizzle.

Hi DJ iSizzle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m an American DJ, record producer, and musician who is known for my unique style of mixing all genres of music seamlessly together.

I grew in the San Juan Islands and was the youngest of 3 kids, there was quite a gap in age with my sister being 6 years older and brother 8 years older. My sister was really into Country music and my brother was into 80s and 90s music. My parents loved 1960s and 70s music. So I was lucky in hearing all different types of music growing up.

I really admire artists like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, LMAFO, Bruno Mars, Tiesto to name a few.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During the Covid 19 lockdown all venues and clubs were closed. So I practiced mixing every day and night. I Taught myself how to mix multiple genres, studied music charts from the 1950s to current hits, I watched countless hours of weddings with DJs, studied Playlists for parties, watched a lot of DJ tutorials on questions to ask potential clients. My thinking was Covid would hopefully end.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Midway through 2021 the lockdown and restrictions began to be lifted. I got a business license, started a DJ company for around $10,000 and named it DJ iSizzle. After that I bought DJ equipment like Speakers, Laptop, Microphones, upgraded my mixer and then I started booking weddings and birthday parties. I DJ’d 12 events from July to the end of 2021.

Last year I DJ’d 70 different events from Weddings, Community events, Graduations, Elementary School Dances, Boys and Girls Club, Casinos, Festivals, The US Navy, Black Angus Steakhouse, Hilton Gardens.. it was an amazing year. One thing I learned about people is that music unites us in a way that is unique. music brings us happiness, emotions and nostalgia. I’ve been blessed and lucky to be a DJ.

This year the goal is to play 200 shows. I moved to LA to expand and bring happiness to people’s events through music and dance. There’s just something about Southern California that feels magical. Maybe it’s the people, the weather, the sunsets, or all of it. I’m thankful to call LA my home.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’d really like to share my knowledge with places like Boys and Girls Club, even be a guest speaker at schools and colleges. For me personally, I’d like to be that DJ that gives back to the SoCal community that has helped me succeed in achieving a lot of my goals.
