Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Shaun A. Booker.

Hi D’Shaun, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a young girl, I absolutely loved talking to people. I always had a heart for wanting to help people out with their problems. I just seemed to have a natural gift of offering others good advise. Or maybe I just had the “gift of gab!” LOL! I had this way of being able to show people greater possibilities for their lives. It was during these early years that my affection for helping people grew. I began to feel like my purpose was to become a channel; in which others could see their highest potential. I thought to myself, I would become a teacher because this way, I could step into a role of guiding others with grace and ease. My decision to live this Purpose fully was filled with great excitement!

I went away to college to pursue my degree in Theatre Arts and Communication. I had such a passion for the “arts.” Yes, I was an artist at heart – acting directing, producing, and speaking were my gifts. After I graduated, I came back home to LA and landed my first professional teaching job.

While teaching full time, I began to step out on faith and utilize other talents I had. I took leaps of faith as I pursued my career path as a playwright, director, producer, cable talk show host, and speaker. I began to book small gigs doing empowerment workshops for youth as well as for women. I started creating my own “Empowerment” workshops with a curriculum based on “Reaching your Highest Potential.”

Soon, I was being asked to facilitate conferences, workshops, retreats, and special events. I was actually stepping into my Purpose – My Calling, and this was absolutely fulfilling. I did hit a few bumps in the road, but I knew I had to satisfy my desire for helping others. I soon left my teaching job and got another job with a large non-profit organization. What I said would just be a “lay over” lasted for twelve years! During those twelve years, I founded Arts Creating Unity Institute, Inc., my youth non-profit organization; teaching acceptance, tolerance and racial justice through the arts. But, as I expanded my work with empowering women, I soon gave birth to my Coaching, Training, and Facilitating Company, Maximizing Your Magnificence.

And 20 years later, I am The Maximizing Coach! I offer Powerhouse Women an experience that will guide, shape design, and offer a successful system for achieving their heart’s desires. I coach women to work and live from a wider lens. I coach women to do three empowering things, 1). Be Intentional, 2) Live with Integrity, 3) Manifest Increase! It is through my “Magnificence Formula”. The “Magnificence Formula” is designed in helping women achieve their highest potential; while creating a successful Lifestyle of fulfillment and Magnificence. This is achieved through a series of optimized and elevated courses, systems, and programs. We begin their transformational journey by Owning Their Brilliance!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I love being an entrepreneur, but there has certainly been many “paint points” along the way. I thought at first, it would be glamorous, but that’s not the case. There have been times when I simply wanted to toss in the towel. But I knew it was all about the journey, so I stayed the course.

As a woman and a woman in business, the BIG struggle for me was self-worth and self-value. I was approaching my business from such a nurturing place that I wasn’t seeing my own value. So, it was difficult to see money as equaling my value.

I wanted my clients to like me, and stay with me, so I practically gave my services away! The results was I was broke! I wasn’t making any money. I was afraid to stand for myself – for my value. How odd – when this is the very thing I coach women to do for themselves. I held myself hostage for years because my mindset around money was rooted in FEAR!

I was afraid of charging my worth and pushing potential clients away. I did not believe in myself. So, I wasn’t able to earn any legitimate income…I was broke and miserable. But I acted as if I was fine. With no money, I wasn’t able to build my business. So, I had to make a big decision… I shut it all down!

I invested in business coaches, mentors, trainings, courses, mastermind groups, and a team to make my self-worth and self-value Non-Negotiable! I changed my mindset from a mindset of scarcity to a mindset of abundance!

So, today as I hold a space for Powerhouse Women to stand in their Magnificence – I stand with them in leveraging my own Power! I have stepped into my truth and I know for sure my self-worth and self-value are with compromise.

With my diverse knowledge and experience in business-corporate, collegiate, and entertainment, I bring over 20 years of experience that gives me a wealth of tools and techniques capable of transforming and re-defining moments in women’s lives.

I’ve created systems for non-profits and the collegiate level that has produced massive results both fiscal revenue streams and programmatic outcomes – producing high-end results to produce increased client market and community mobilization.

As a result of coaching with me, Powerhouse Women achieve their maximum potential. They become more than conquerors leaving their limiting beliefs in the dust! Life becomes a celebration guided by courage, clarity, confidence, and filled with limitless Power!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have been moved in my life and business by what I call my “Faith Formula.”

As a woman of faith, I have stood on my spiritual beliefs to keep me steady and strong. Although the roads are sometimes rough, and barriers are more than few…I have retreated to my foundation of faith. I hold on to hope, believing that there is a brighter end at the end of every “dark hour”. I also live by 90% of everything we do is preparation. So, if I’ve done my 90%…when the opportunities present themselves… I’m absolute available and ready for the ride!
