Rising Stars: Meet Tino Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tino Gomez.

Hi Tino, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started as a 13-year-old kid going to raves with my older brothers in Vegas and travel to LA sometimes. When I turned 18 started djing at house parties as a hobby. When I turn 23, I started to take it more serious and started to dj at nightclubs and bars all around Las Vegas. A few years later I started to do my own techno and house music events for 18+ and 21+. In 2008 or so I started to book international artists from all over the world to play my events and that help me to get my name out as a dj and event promoter. Eventually, I started to travel around the States playing from city to city and soon after, all over the world. In 2014 I started a very successful event called Techno Taco Tuesday with my friend Lance aka Lance Le Rok at a taqueria called TACOS & Beer. Which has become a staple in Las Vegas Area and all over the world. A-few years later, my friend Oscar and me opened up our own bar/venue/juice bar/nightclub called juicy beets. A couple of years later, we decided to close the business.

In the last four years, we moved the event to downtown Las Vegas and Now we are at La Mona Rosa. Throughout the last nine years, we have had booked hundreds of international DJs from all over the world every Tuesday for the last nine years. That has opens up lots of doors for us which we have been very thankful for and have taken advantage of it. It’s been quite a journey for me since the first day I listen to electronic music at a rave when I was 13 years old till now. I have traveled the world djing and continue to do so as of today. I guess my success is due to the passion and love for electronic music such as techno, house music, its culture and the community around the world definitely.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. There has been so many ups and downs. Some of the struggles you face in this industry is specially in Las Vegas is that the electronic music culture it was not none existent so we all struggled to create a scene and culture. To get people to come out to events on a weekly bases or sometimes monthly was not easy. Somehow we achieved it with TECHNO TACO TUESDAY. The other struggles are late nights, drugs, alcohol, no sleep, depression, financial losses and many more. But in order to overcome all of that you need to be very disciplined and keep your feet planted on the ground.

Marketing is always a struggle lol. Every 4/5 years the wave of music genres changes so you have to keep up else you miss the train and your event is dead… Also, the scene changes every 5/6 years so you always need to keep promoting to new and younger groups of people or partygoers so your party stays relevant or attractive.

Personal relationships is another one. Is very thought to have a significant other when you are on the spotlight all the time. People wanna be around you all the time or they want something from you. Late nights, and the exposure to drugs alcohol and the attention from everyone. And that with time can make your significant other think about not wanting to be in that circus.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
