Rising Stars: Meet Tashia Farries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashia Farries.

Tashia Farries

Hi Tashia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Hammond, IN, raised by a mom who cooked and BBQ’d every day for our family and the entire neighborhood. Growing up, I always watched my mom cook and would be amazed by the amount of food & people she cooked for. Once I graduated college, I started hosting my own cookouts at my house for family and friends and was able to cook for large amounts of people like my mom. It always felt great to bring everyone together with food and music. I started making sauces from scratch while working in a Country Club and getting close with the chefs. I then moved to Atlanta in 2012, where I learned more versatile flavors and cooking techniques. I moved to California in 2018 and decided to sell plates to employees at my wife’s job. It immediately took off! I was asked to cater for 100 people within three months of my selling plates. I started meal prepping for a guy I went to high school with and posting many pictures of my food on social media, gaining followers and attention.

One day dropping plates off, I received a call from a high school friend with Kelly Rowland on the phone asking for food. My life took a very fast turn and hasn’t slowed up since. That call changes my life forever. Kelly requested such a large variety of food in a short amount of time and I made it happen. I then knew I was capable of cooking on a different level. I now cook for many A-list celebrities as a private chef and have my own staffed catering company for events. I am also in partnership with my favorite Cajun seasoning, Tony Chachere’s, which was a seasoning I used when I was hosting cookouts after college. My mom was diagnosed with dementia in 2016, so I feel like this is bigger than me. This is surely my purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest challenge of my journey is not being able to share my success with my mom due to her dementia diagnosis. Other than that, my gift has allowed me to live abundantly in my purpose.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a private chef and owner of Pinch of Love catering company. I love creating smiles and good vibes one plate at a time. I specialize in flavor! I’m most proud of how I accept all challenges and cook all genres of food, exceeding expectations. I turn down no one.

What matters most to you? Why?
My family and those I love. Making my mom proud even though she can’t necessarily comprehend my success. Building an empire for family to live comfortably.
