Rising Stars: Meet Shantel Behroozan of Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantel Behroozan.

Hi Shantel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always danced as a hobby and when I got diagnosed with breast cancer at 36 years old I continued to dance every day before my treatments. I realized the power in movement, music community and positive energy and promised myself if I made it through I would share what i learned with everyone around me. Healing together through dance. Since then I’ve done endless dance fundraisers raising money for different non profits that are near and dear to my heart and I started a dance movement. Helping everyone reconnect with their bodies. I’ve danced with thousands of women over the last 7 years and am finally opening up my own dance studio 4000 sq ft of dance heaven in Beverly Hills!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Never a smooth road. As a mother of three and married to a celebrity dermatologist… dancing on social media wasn’t always looked upon as a good thing. I got a lot of push back from the community but continued and did the impossible. Got a whole community of women dancing that had never danced before! In addition to that, having my own health issues, financial obligations and raising teenagers all while maintaining an active social life has not been easy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud of the impact I’ve made on all the women that I’ve met and the women I’ve touched through social media all over the world. Empowering them to tap into their magic, to feel comfortable and free in their own skin, to feel confident and feminine and build a community that exudes positive energy. It’s really magical. What sets me apart from other dance studio owners is that I care about every single person that walks through my doors. I want to know what brings them in I want to know how I can help improve their life and every single teacher I hire is in line with my philosophy which is healing through dance one step at a time.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was super friendly but also incredibly shy. Very outgoing and yet very introverted. I loved meeting people and also really enjoyed being alone. I grew up in a small town called Great Neck in Long Island New York which happens to be exit 33 off the Long Island Expressway. My new studio is called Exit 33.
