Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Kahane Pankow.
Hi Rebecca , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always had a passion for fashion. I’m a very visual person and love to express myself through clothing. At the age of 16, I started my first internship in fashion. At the age of 18, I started working retail at Ron Herman. I attended USC and during college I interned for Rodarte. As soon as I graduated, I worked as an office manager for a Hollywood stylist and costume designer. From there, I became a styling assistant for Taylor Jacobson, who became my mentor. I’m so grateful for her guidance and support all these years. Then, I became a freelance assistant and worked with many of the top Hollywood stylists. Finally, after 7 years of assisting, I took a leap and started to focus on my own styling business full time. I created social content to help promote my business. I went from 2,000 followers in 2024 to almost 140,000 followers on Instagram. Social media has opened so many doors for me and really helped me expand my business. It was a scary leap to take, but incredibly rewarding. Now, not only do I work with clients in person & virtually, I’m also working directly with fashion brands.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Covid really halted the entertainment industry, which then put styling was on pause. During this time, I started soft launching my virtual styling business. I picked up many clients through the internet. I love working with clients all over the United States. I wouldn’t have thought to work digitally if Covid hadn’t shut down the world.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a fashion stylist and a content creator. I work with different types of people, from celebrities to everyday people. I am now known for my tips and tricks videos on Instagram.
How do you think about luck?
At the age of 8, I was diagnosed with ADHD. For my entire life, I felt I had to be the hardest worker in the room to keep up. As an adult, I turned this into a strength. I have a strong work ethic, and I view things differently than most people- which enhancesd my creative side.
