# Princess Mallery
Official Biography | Author • Advocate • Educator • Journalist
Princess Mallery, professionally known as Mallery Jenna Robinson, is a Black Afro-Caribbean author, community advocate, educator, transgender empowerment leader, and storyteller based in Los Angeles, California. With ancestral ties to Haiti and a passion for cultural representation, social justice, and creative expression, she has dedicated her life to amplifying marginalized voices and creating opportunities for communities whose stories are too often overlooked.
A proud graduate of Huntingdon College, where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and History, Princess Mallery brings an interdisciplinary perspective to her work, connecting education, history, public health, advocacy, and storytelling. Her professional experience spans community engagement, program management, project coordination, health equity, public education, and organizational leadership.
## Advocacy and community leadership
Princess Mallery is the creator of Transgender Empathy Training, an educational initiative designed to foster understanding, strengthen relationships, and improve interactions between transgender and gender-diverse communities and the institutions that serve them. Her work centers empathy, inclusion, harm reduction, healthcare access, and practical strategies for creating safer and more affirming environments.
Through community-based initiatives, advisory board service, public speaking, and educational programming, she has worked to advance transgender visibility, HIV awareness, health equity, and social inclusion. Her advocacy reflects a commitment to ensuring that people with lived experience are not simply included in conversations about their communities but are empowered to help shape the decisions that affect their lives.
## Investigative journalism and storytelling
Princess Mallery is the creator of A Hateful Homicide, a true crime YouTube series and show dedicated to documenting the lives, disappearances, murders, and unidentified cases of transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and Two-Spirit people in the United States and internationally.
Through investigative storytelling and community-centered narratives, she seeks to honor victims, preserve their stories, raise awareness about violence affecting gender-diverse communities, and encourage accountability. Her approach emphasizes remembrance, dignity, and the importance of recognizing victims as whole people whose lives mattered beyond the circumstances of their deaths.
## Literature and creative vision
As a fiction author, Princess Mallery is the creator of Big in Japan, a romantic novel exploring love, race, colorism, cultural identity, social class, family, and royalty. The story follows Princess Ana of Montgomery and Prince Kai, a Japanese/Southeast Asian prince, as their relationship challenges cultural expectations and social hierarchies.
Inspired in part by her love of storytelling and her personal experiences, Big in Japan reflects her ambition to develop stories that cross cultural boundaries and connect audiences through universal themes of love, belonging, and self-discovery. Her creative vision extends beyond publishing to potential television, film, and theatrical adaptations.
The novel is also dedicated to her late mother, Terese Dione Robinson, whose love and support remain an important part of Princess Mallery’s life and creative legacy.
## A legacy of visibility, empowerment, and purpose
Whether through advocacy, education, investigative journalism, or literature, Princess Mallery approaches her work with a belief that representation matters and that storytelling can help people understand one another. Her vision brings together community leadership and artistic expression, using both to challenge exclusion, preserve overlooked histories, and create space for more inclusive narratives.
As an Afro-Caribbean woman, transgender advocate, educator, and author, Princess Mallery continues to build a body of work rooted in authenticity, cultural pride, empathy, and the determination to leave a meaningful legacy.
Her mission: to educate, empower, tell the stories that matter, and ensure that the people too often overlooked are seen, heard, and remembered.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has not always been a smooth road. As a Black Afro-Caribbean transgender woman working at the intersection of advocacy, education, community leadership, and creative storytelling, I have faced challenges related to representation, access to opportunities, and the responsibility of advocating for communities whose experiences are often misunderstood or overlooked. Building initiatives, developing programs, and pursuing creative ambitions while navigating systems that do not always recognize the value of lived experience has required persistence, adaptability
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am Mallery Jenna Robinson, professionally known as Princess Mallery, an author, community advocate, educator, program leader, and investigative storyteller based in Los Angeles, California. My work sits at the intersection of social justice, transgender empowerment, health equity, education, and creative expression. I specialize in community engagement, program development, advocacy, public education, and storytelling that amplifies voices and experiences that are too often overlooked. With dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and History from Huntingdon College, I bring an interdisciplinary perspective to my work, connecting public health, historical understanding, community needs, and social change. My professional experience includes program and project management, community outreach, case management, coalition building, and advisory board service. I am passionate about creating inclusive educational experiences, developing community-centered initiatives, and helping organizations better understand and serve marginalized populations.
Two of my proudest accomplishments are creating **Transgender Empathy Training** and founding *A Hateful Homicide*, my true crime YouTube series and show. Through Transgender Empathy Training, I promote understanding, reduce stigma, and equip organizations and individuals with practical tools for engaging respectfully with transgender and gender-diverse communities. Through *A Hateful Homicide*, I bring attention to cases involving missing, murdered, and unidentified transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and Two-Spirit people, emphasizing remembrance, dignity, and accountability. I am also the author of ***Big in Japan***, a romantic fiction novel exploring intercultural love, race, colorism, identity, class, and royalty. The story follows Princess Ana of Montgomery and Prince Kai, a Japanese/Southeast Asian prince, as their relationship challenges cultural expectations and social hierarchies. Inspired by my passion for storytelling and dedicated to my late mother, Terese Dione Robinson, *Big in Japan* represents my commitment to cultural representation and creating stories that connect people across backgrounds. My creative vision extends beyond the printed page to potential book series, television, film, and theatrical adaptations.
What sets me apart is my ability to bring advocacy, education, investigative journalism, and creative entrepreneurship together under one broader mission: making overlooked people, histories, and experiences impossible to ignore. I approach my work with authenticity, empathy, direct communication, and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. Whether I am educating an audience, advocating for community-centered policies, documenting stories that deserve recognition, or writing a romance that explores cultural boundaries, I strive to create work that inspires reflection and meaningful connection. For me, success is not simply about personal recognition; it is about opening doors for others, elevating underrepresented voices, and building a legacy of creativity, empowerment, and lasting community impact.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that, beyond my public identity as Princess Mallery—a transgender advocate, educator, author, and investigative storyteller—I have an academic background in both Biology and History. I earned dual bachelor’s degrees from Huntingdon College, and I love bringing together science, historical context, and human experiences to explore complex social issues. People who know me through my advocacy work may not expect that I also have a deeply creative side that dreams on a grand scale. I am the author of *Big in Japan*, a romantic fiction novel inspired by my love of storytelling, cultural representation, and the possibilities of love across social and cultural boundaries. I am also the creator of *A Hateful Homicide*, a true crime YouTube series and show dedicated to honoring transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and Two-Spirit people whose stories deserve to be remembered. What connects these seemingly different pursuits is my curiosity about people, our histories, and the experiences that shape who we become. I have never believed I should limit myself to one title or one lane. I can be analytical and imaginative, outspoken and compassionate, an advocate and an artist. Ultimately, one of the most surprising things about me is that I am continually evolving—and I intend to keep creating, learning, and building a legacy that brings together every part of who I am.
