Today we’d like to introduce you to Maia Tamico
Hi Maia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Im Maia Tamico, Im a Professional model from Los Angeles, CA. My first experience being in front of a camera and a production was when I was 10 years old, and was featured in a Disney Commercial. From that experience, I knew this is what I wanted to do. At the age of 15 I cut all of my hair off, changed my look and had my first fashion shoot. I just knew I was meant to be in front of the camera. I also was a dancer so in a way modeling interfered with that and at that time I chose to be a dancer because that was one my biggest passions and my first love I would say. From a young age, I have always been a fashion enthusiast, obsessed with creativity & self-expression. Whether it was through dancing, playing dress-up in my mother’s clothes or producing art and music, I found joy in exploring different creative outlets. Despite my passion for modeling, I have always pursued multiple interests. I attended college and focused on that rather than modeling and in 2023, after earning my B.S. in Interior Design, I decided to reignite my modeling career. Since then, I have gained extensive experience & worked with astounding professionals & brands. Ive had so many opportunities that has changed the trajectory of my entire life and Im so thankful for the experience. My main focus now is to sign with a top agency because as I grow and more opportunities come my way. It becomes a lot to handle and Im looking for a team to help me reach knew heights. Its only up from here and I thank God every day for the life and plan he has for me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in my life has ever been a smooth road. Like ever. But as far as modeling it has made me more confident and grounded because people may see me get this opportunity or that, but with every yes and there is like 20 no’s I may have gotten. It has taught me to be more content within myself and to keep on going no matter what. It gets hard sometimes and takes a mental toll on me when its a job I really wanted. But I have a great support team and I always remember who and what Im doing it for and focus on that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fulltime model. I mostly model high fashion clothing but I have done a little bit of it all. From Runway to commercials, lifestyle, Fashion editorial. You name it Ive probably done and in such a short period of time, consistently I would say. I have not even made a year of modeling full time and I can honestly say my resume is quite full which I am extremely grateful for. I am always overwhelmed with gratitude. I am most known for modeling fashion but the ultimate goal is to be known as a versatile model. I am most proud of the progress and my ability to keep going. I have had such exciting moments within my career such as being featured on the cover of magazines, working with the largest beauty store in the world, working with some of the largest musical artists in the world, and astounding, Designers, brands and productions. So when Im asked what Im most proud of I like to remain neutral and say I am proud of every moment because I am and I’m always envisioning myself doing more. I enjoy the moment always and give myself grace but there’s always more work to do. I think what sets me apart from others is my drive and true passion for the work I do. Im a creative and I truly have a passion for creating so the way that I bring to life visions and produce ideas to a project that may have not been thought of initially is the way that I stand out. Im the whole package plus more. And even more after that. I bring my all. Every. Single. Time. And still have an eagerness to grow.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5 years I see my industry being more inclusive. It has improved in someways but there is still a lot of working and growing that needs to be done.
