Today we’d like to introduce you to Leonard Crofoot
Hi Leonard, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was young, I had a condition that required being in a wheelchair, when I recovered, I took ballet classes to strengthen my legs and I have been dancing ever since. I am a veteran of the stage and screen for over sixty years.

Most recently I can be seen dancing with Kaia Gerber on “Palm Royale” Maxine Rolls the Dice (TV Episode 2024)
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mostly I have made a living as an actor-dancer-singer. When I’m not performed I have taught dance classes and choreographed, along with some odd jobs.
In the late 1990’s, when I wasn’t getting enough work, I decided to write a one-person show to generate some interest. The show I created is called “Nijinsky Speaks” and my intention was to perform it for a couple of weekends and hopefully attract some attention. Instead, the show ran from 1996-2006 and became my new income source. The show was based on the legendary dancer of the early 20th century, Vaslav Nijinsky considered the greatest dancer of his time. He danced for just 10 years, then went insane. Doing my own show was an education. I had to deal with press releases, advertising, poster, playbills, promotional videos, travel expenses, lighting, music, technical specification for every theater. The show traveled all over the US and each theater had its own issues. I am especially proud of my nine weeks Off Broadway at the Harold Clurman theater and performing here in LA at the Getty center. I never imagined that my attempt to find work found 10 years of employment instead.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
There are two aspects to my work: Employee/Professional and Artist/Creative
When I am hired, I must endeavor to assure the director, writer, choreographer, composer that I am up to the job and that I can be counted on to do my best.
As a creative artist performing my own work, I need to speak authentically with my own voice.
It has been a privilege to face these two sides of performing.
What matters most to you? Why?
I am very fortunate in having wonderful family and friends. I lead a happy life. Currently I am creating material for the internet on Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube and others. Luckily, performing arts have unions and pensions which has given me freedom to pursue these interests while admiring the hummingbirds outside my window.
