Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Anne.
Hi Leah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been passionate about visual storytelling. I used to direct and edit music videos for fun in early high school. I taught myself how to edit videos and freelanced professionally after graduating with my bachelors degree in marketing. However, I wasn’t happy living in Virginia (where I was born and raised). I had a vivid dream one night that I was on a stage acting in a play and I felt powerful in a way I never had before. I never thought I would become an actress. After taking a few workshops on acting, I decided to follow my heart and leave everything I knew behind. I booked a flight to Los Angeles where my friend lived. When I moved here, it felt like paradise. I couldn’t believe I lived where I could see the Hollywood sign. In 6 months, I had booked myself in over 40+ productions. I was paying my bills from just background acting. I learned everything as I went. However, I realized I’d be more happy behind the camera. I’d always wanted to be a director since I was a teenager and I have an eye for great visuals. Now, I’m pursuing a career in creative strategy and creative direction.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My path has not been easy at all. From graduating in the COVID-19 pandemic, moving back to live with my grandparents, sacrificing my career to spend the last bit of time I had with my beloved 85-year-old grandfather, getting kicked out of the house because I struggled to find work, and moving in with my dad – these were all my struggles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in video editing, storytelling, and social media content marketing. I’m most proud of the fact that I am a self-taught video editor and that I have a natural talent for crafting compelling visuals and stories. What sets me apart is my psychological and emotional approach to storytelling.
