Rising Stars: Meet Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz.

Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are Kirstie and Christine, an award-winning multicultural LGBTQ+ couple using our platform, On Airplane Mode, to inspire others to follow their passions all while celebrating who they are and who they love! We started our platform from the ground up to empower women and the LGBTQ+ community to have their voices heard. In just three years, we are proud to have built an engaging and loyal following of over half a million followers, success across multiple social media platforms, and recognition across multiple media outlets for brands.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is never an easy road when you are following your dreams, but it’s the outcome that is worth it! We both share a love and passion for traveling and seeing the world, new traditions, new cultures, and meeting new people from all walks of life. There is so much beauty in the world, but there is also still so much to go when it comes to equality for both women and queer people. In just under 70 countries, it is still illegal to identify as gay. There are some countries that it is punishable by death and even more countries where there are limited protections against harassment, discrimination, or violence. We have a mission to continue traveling and sharing our story all around the world with the intention of uplifting other queer voices where they might be silenced.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are known for our content creation, photography, and videography! Our platform, On Airplane Mode, can be found across all channels such as Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, Pinterest, and more. We have over half a million followers from around the world who tune in to see the inspiring destinations we are traveling to! We have recently been following our love for entertainment and fashion where we have had the honor of appearing at LGBTQ+ events such as the Attitude Awards in London, The Black Tie Dinner in Dallas (the largest LGBTQ+ fundraiser in the United States) and other events! We look forward to not only creating a name for our brand on social media but also through in-person appearances where we can truly walk the walk in normalizing queer love!

How do you think about luck?
Through hard work, dedication, and unconditional belief in ourselves, we know we can bring any of our dreams into fruition. To us, luck implies that anything that happens in our life, good or bad, is merely coincidental. However, we believe that there are no coincidences and the good and the bad are just leading you right where you are meant to be. In our business we travel often which leaves a lot of room for things to happen not according to plan. Flight delays, cancellations, long lines, and lost luggage could be considered “unlucky”, but that doesn’t mean we have to give those situations the power to ruin our present moment! This can apply with any business or person’s life – instead of over-planning and fixating on what we think should happen, we try to let those fears and anxieties go to just enjoy the path we are on!
