Rising Stars: Meet Jshauntae Marshall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jshauntae Marshall.

Hi Jshauntae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a former healthcare executive turned serial entrepreneur. While I have owned a merit of million-dollar businesses ranging from home health care service companies, day spas, outpatient treatment facilities, life coaching practices, and a business consulting firm, my greatest accomplishment is Co-Founding No Racism In Schools 1865 with Co-Founder Akiko Cooks.

Known in the community as 1865, this organization was birthed out of tragedy in March of 2019 after a threatened school shooting targeting all black students of a local high school in Las Vegas. Nine black boys where targeted, one being my son. Since its inception, 1865 has been responsible for the creation and adoption of the first AntiRacism Policy in the Clark County School District. Among other accomplishments, 1865 has collaborated with the school system to create and adopt the Crisis Response Model for Hate Motivated Behavior, and the passing of the Anti-Discrimination in Education Bill (AB 371) in Nevada Legislation carried by Assemblywoman Brittney Miller.

In addition to fighting racism in education, I serve as the Board Secretary and Chair of Anti Racism for National Action Network Las Vegas, an organization founded by Rev. Al Sharpton.

As exciting as all of this may seem, in addition to being an activist and serving my community, I continue to thrive as an entrepreneur. My vision is to become the next Martha Stewart. I am currently in the process of launching Hush By Jai, a luxury home goods brand. Hush by Jai is my most exciting business venture yet! Hush By Jai’s grand opening is set for March of 2023 and will feature a luxury line of towels, sheets, robes and other home good essentials, as well as a lifestyle podcast. Our new line will contain woven materials that have greater absorbency than a standard cotton blend, and the products have a longer lifespan for wash and care handling; which will allow customers to save on the bottom line, reduce replacement frequency while motivating them to lean into their home experience. The inspiration behind Hush By Jai is recreating the synergy between a hectic work life and a balanced home life for people in business and on the move.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been easy. Rather fighting racism and supremacy, navigating social media algorithms for ad space, securing funding sources, or simply maintaining a healthy work-life balance, this journey has been nothing short of an amazing ride, suited only for the strongest of leaders who possess true grit, grind, discipline, and hustle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a former Healthcare COO turned serial entrepreneur. I specialize in business development. I am an Internationally Certified Life Coach and an Award-Winning Activist in Social Justice.

While I am extremely proud of my accomplishments and the fact that I have been blessed to build a multi-million dollar business I am most proud that God has given me the ability to impact the lives of others in such positive ways.

Drive, determination, resilience, and my ability to interact from the C-Suite to the Grassroots of the community are all attributes that set me apart.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child, I was always very inquisitive, analytical, and wise beyond my years. I was often told that I had an old soul. I have always emerged as a natural-born leader spaces. As a Native of Chicago, I grew up knowing exactly what I didn’t want in life, far before I knew what I did want. I was surrounded by a loving family and support system who consistently pushed me to excel. Being average was never ok, I was always taught to show up as the best version of myself as often as I could. That was considered, being extraordinary!
