Today we’d like to introduce you to Imari Rowsey.
Hi Imari, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has been shaped by resilience, personal growth, and a desire to create spaces where people feel seen and supported. Growing up, I learned early on the importance of perseverance and community. As the first person in my immediate family to earn both a high school diploma and a college degree, education became a symbol of breaking cycles and creating new opportunities for myself and those around me.
Professionally, I’ve worked in customer engagement, community outreach, and financial wellness coaching, helping people identify goals, overcome obstacles, and build confidence in their next steps. Along the way, I discovered a passion for mental wellness advocacy, event planning, and creating meaningful connections.
In 2024, I founded Imari Beauty LLC. While it began as a beauty brand, it quickly evolved into something much bigger. I realized my true passion wasn’t simply selling products. It was creating experiences that empower people, encourage self-reflection, and build community. Today, my business focuses on wellness initiatives, personal development, and community-centered events designed to help people navigate stress, burnout, and life’s challenges.
One of my proudest accomplishments has been hosting wellness events that bring people together for honest conversations about mental health and personal growth. Through workshops, guided discussions, and community partnerships, I’ve been able to create safe spaces where people feel encouraged to heal, learn, and connect.
Beyond entrepreneurship, I’m a content creator, model, and advocate who believes our stories have the power to inspire change. Whether I’m hosting an event, creating content, or mentoring others, my goal is to help people recognize their value and take meaningful steps toward the life they envision for themselves.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue expanding my impact through wellness programming, community engagement, and eventually pursuing a career in mental health counseling. My mission is simple: to turn personal experiences into opportunities that help others feel supported, empowered, and hopeful about their future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. While I’m grateful for where I am today, the road has been filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments where I questioned myself.
Like many people, I’ve experienced periods of burnout, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed while trying to balance work, school, entrepreneurship, family responsibilities, and my own personal growth. There were times when I was working multiple jobs, trying to build a business, pursue my education, and still show up for the people I love. At times, I poured so much into others that I neglected myself.
One of the biggest challenges was navigating my mental health. There were seasons where I struggled emotionally and had to make the difficult decision to seek professional support. That experience taught me that asking for help is not weakness, it’s strength. It gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of mental wellness and ultimately became one of the driving forces behind the work I do today.
I’ve also faced plenty of trial and error as an entrepreneur. Not every idea worked, not every event sold out, and not every opportunity turned into success. There were moments when I invested time, energy, and money into projects that didn’t produce the results I hoped for. Learning to adapt, pivot, and keep moving forward became one of my greatest lessons.
Financial challenges have also been part of my journey. Like many first-generation professionals and entrepreneurs, I’ve had to learn how to navigate debt, budgeting, building credit, and creating stability while pursuing my goals. Those experiences taught me resilience and resourcefulness.
Looking back, every setback helped shape my purpose. The struggles I faced are the reason I’m passionate about creating safe spaces for others. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and exhausted. Today, I use those experiences to encourage others, create community, and remind people that setbacks don’t define them. Sometimes the hardest chapters become the foundation for the work we’re called to do.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder of Imari Beauty LLC, a wellness-focused brand that creates safe spaces for personal growth, mental wellness, and community connection. My work includes hosting wellness events, creating content, facilitating meaningful conversations, and helping people gain clarity and confidence in their next steps.
I’m most proud of building something that goes beyond products and focuses on impact. Seeing people leave my events feeling encouraged, supported, and connected reminds me why I do this work.
What sets me apart is that my work is rooted in real-life experiences. I’ve faced setbacks, burnout, and challenges of my own, which allows me to connect with people authentically. I don’t just talk about wellness, I actively create spaces where people can experience it.
At my core, I’m a community builder who is passionate about helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is taking a family road trip to Canada’s Wonderland with my mom and siblings. Growing up in Detroit, crossing the Ambassador Bridge felt like a big adventure. I remember being excited the entire drive, spending the day enjoying the rides, laughing with my family, and creating memories that have stayed with me ever since. Looking back, what makes that memory so special isn’t just the destination, but the quality time we spent together and the joy of experiencing something new as a family.
