Rising Stars: Meet Hannah Hueston of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Hueston.

Hi Hannah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Kansas as a dancer and cheerleader. I always dreamed a little bit bigger than the people around me. I wanted to see how far I would go. In everything, really, even if I didn’t say it out loud. I made my way out to LA the day of my birthday, about 8 years ago, to pursue my career in the dance industry. I made a splash and started working right away. I was really fortunate to know the people I knew and make a good living while never being repped by any agency.

I invested a lot into my dance career.. and one day, a really good friend of mine booked me to dance in a movie. And I had worked background work for several movies, but something about this one changed every single component in my brain. I dug up an old dream I thought I had given up on. I wanted to be in the movies. In any way possible. I started working a lot with Lifetime and Tubi, just as a majorly featured role as a dancer and cheerleader for their movies.

During this time, I met a boy, ran off to do a couple of years on ships to follow him, was in a pretty bad situation, and I lost sight of myself and what I wanted while being treated poorly. Got my heart broken, of course, but it sent me in the direction of The Empire Strips Back; a Star Wars Parody Burlesque Show. Yes, it is as crazy as it sounds. Being a part of that show healed me during this time of feeling lost. They gave me a purpose again while doing something I loved. It made me realize, anything was possible for me.

I went back to LA and began to reintroduce myself into the film industry, and every job I booked ignited this deeply rooted need to be in the movies. Again, I was quite fortunate. Without an agent, I was still able to book amazing things like “Monsters; Jeffrey Dahmer”, Mercedes and FOX commercials, “Stiletto”, an upcoming horror, and “Airplane 2025”, a comedy spoof! These are just a few, but I have felt so honored to be a part of them. In each booking I have had, I have been bumped to a higher role just by stepping onto set and just get seen by the right people who make things happen!

Now, I am getting around 3-6 auditions a week and I feel more closer to my A-List dreams now more than ever!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been smooth-ish! A lot of personal obstacles and challenges. The industry is a big challenge. It is a very big goal to climb the ladder of success within the film industry, especially with how few opportunities are being offered to fresh faces and the industry filming less and less in Hollywood. But people do it! I see friends succeeding all the time. I know in my bones there is a place for me at the top, and it calls my name every damn day.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a wide range of specialties. I started with my dance journey from an early age, so I am trained in a lot of styles like hip hop, contemporary, and jazz funk. My specialty is heels and burlesque. Bigger picture, I’ve made sure I was as bookable of a talent as possible and dipped my toe in a lot. I am an experienced creature performer for live performances as well as TV and Film. On top of that, stunt fighting for film and acrobatics have aided in the progression of my career.

In film, I am becoming known for horror. I am gaining scream queen status. Most of the auditions I get are for horror movies. I have at least 3 in the works right now! I am diverse though, my recent film “Airplane 2025” was a comedy that has been making a splash with raving reviews for my hilarious performance. I am happy I get to show the world I can do it all.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have done a lot on my own. I have always seeked inspiration from the ones around me, every scene parter, every director, every casting team. It is important to keep relationships with the people you work with, especially in this industry. People are all chasing a dream and some may reach that goal faster than yourself.. and if they do, you want to be able to have a relationship where they want to keep coming to you for their projects and ideas because they know you can execute anything they throw at you, and with a good attitude! Stand out! It will help you!
