Rising Stars: Meet Eriii of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eriii.

Hi Eriii, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Music has been an intricate part of my life for as long as I can remember whether it was as a kid sneaking into the studio in the basement of the house (on my dad’s side ) fascinated by equipment I had no idea how to use. Or on my mom’s side dancing and connecting to the music of their culture back home not knowing these things shaped how I would learn to express myself in the future. Growing up I definitely didn’t expect or understand what music would mean to me until unfortunately my mother passed. That battle led to an outlet that expressed and explained things regular words couldn’t. Music is the sentiment of everything and nothing … it’s my forever constant Today I am able to share my story ,my deepest thoughts and hope that the people it does find it feel comfort clarity or just enjoyment. Its more than a dream or passion its where i feel most at home . Where I am today truly is because of the things I’ve faced , the music I’ve made and family I’ve chosen.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Its definitely not a smooth road but anything worth it isn’t. The ridicule you can face or just the difficult choices when it comes to balancing multiple things that you deem important , being a artist isn’t easy. harboring your craft isn’t easy but how you persevere through unexpected obstacles builds your character along with who you surround yourself with and your community .

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a independent artist who also performs and creates a lot of music with my collective Slum Children. Although music is for sure my first love my passion for all things creative doesn’t stop with music . I am also the co- founder of a Creative Agency that aims to stun our audience ,we want the ideas most people would shy away from and for our art to make people feel and always leave a lasting effect. I’m most proud of what’s to come every goal shows me a new one i can conquer. Tour was amazing , sharing my crafts with people is such a unbeatable feeling one i’m working to continue feeling.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Never shy away from putting yourself out there because there’s always a space for you and if it doesn’t feel like there is … create it
