Rising Stars: Meet DeQwan Young of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeQwan Young.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2013, I started my own production company out of spite. Somebody told me I couldn’t do something and I said, “Bet.” I was ending my football playing career and looking to transition into something I could do for the rest of my life. I decided to use my undergraduate degree in Communications and become a production company. I told myself I was going to make money from YouTube. I became a staple on the internet making sports videos. I’ve been featured in television spots for MGM Grand Casino, TNA Impact and in 2025, I won on Let’s Make a Deal. I’ve directed pieces for Impact Wrestling superstars Davey Richards and Angelina Love, along with former UFC and WWE Champion Ronda Rousey. And now I’m attempting to make my first big budget feature, Undrafted.

I got here through grit and determination and just taking a leap of faith. I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing, or if I’m doing the wrong thing, I’m just doing what my intuition is telling me, and going with what makes me feel right. Through the creative process I’ve become a storyteller.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth rode. With any artform, comes struggle; that’s the life of a starving artist. I’ve been a victim of chasing a dream and once you venture down that path, you start to ask for favors. Well the well dries up and I’ve had to be flexible. I’ve been in some less than stellar situations, but it’s all part of the process. Being resilient, troubleshooting, figuring it out, this is everything it takes to make a movie.

I keep fighting because I know I can do this. I have the technical skill and ability, I’m determined and it’s theraputic. I’ve had several people tell me how grateful they were for telling their stories. That’s a reward in itself. It took me a long time to be confident enough to admit I was a filmmaker and now that I can admit it, I just have to make it reality. Anything I’ve experienced has only molded me to be who I am today, a person who can figure it out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a one-man film studio.

My production company Q3 Media (Qubed Media), has produced content for WWE, TNA/Impact, Ronda Rousey, MGM Grand Casino and many more.

I have over 100 million views on YouTube as an on camera host.

I produced 100+ episodes of Last Word Cheetah

In 2022, I produced my documentary short Profile – A Film by DeQwan Young

In 2025, I produced my feature documentary The Beast: The Final Fight

Last year, I appeared on Let’s Make a Deal and I won. Even got a laugh out the studio audience. The most important thing though, I’ve become the go to “Trash” gif on the internet. Seriously, if you type in “trash” on your gif keyboard, you’ll see a picture of me. It has over 200 thousand shares.

Workahol is what sets me apart from others. I’m only focused on my craft, because I’m running out of time. I have things I want to say and I’m finally confident enough in my abilities to do so, so I’m a workaholic. I absolutely have no choice but to finish what I started.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Crossing the threshold is the quality I feel is carrying me farther. Fear can paralyze you from being. There is no right time to do anything, so I just do it. I trust that I’m going to be ok, and I’ve got great support. People keep looking out for me and giving me opportunities, so I just keep going. I got a vision and each time I step out the door, I’m crossing the threshold to execute on said vision.
