Rising Stars: Meet Daria Makieieva of Los Angeles/ Orange county

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daria Makieieva.

Hi Daria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I first arrived in the United States, within just two months I started my own company. Since I had already been working with event organization and décor in my home country, Ukraine, I had no doubts about what I wanted to pursue here. I immediately began working and quickly started receiving orders.

At first, most of them were private events where I was invited by local bloggers, and soon after I moved on to larger projects. I created decorations for several festivals in Orange County, each with an attendance of 500–1000 people.

I truly love what I do and my goal is to keep growing and scaling this work in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, my journey has been quite smooth. I believe that when you truly love what you do and are passionate about it, people naturally feel and respond to that energy. They see the ideas you bring, the creativity you want to share, and they connect with it. When everything flows in that creative state, it feels like your own path is unfolding in front of you, and you realize that others share and support your vision. For this reason, I can say that my path so far has been smooth and fulfilling.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe that every event I work on is truly unique. Each concept is original and carefully developed together with the organizers, or fully by me when I am in charge of the entire production. From décor and entertainment to costumes for performers, I have always aimed to cover the full cycle of event creation. In the beginning, I even included catering, though later I decided to focus entirely on the creative side — décor, concepts, and experiences.

What sets my work apart is my creative vision and my commitment to never repeating myself. I design each event from the picture I see in my mind, and the result always delivers a “wow” effect. What makes me most proud is the trust my clients place in me. Very often, I simply describe my ideas to them, and they immediately say yes — and when they see the final result, they are amazed by how beautifully everything came together.

Over the past two years of running my company here, I’ve had the opportunity to take part in large-scale events both in Los Angeles and in Orange County, and I’m proud of how my work has been recognized on such platforms.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me truly happy is being in the process of bringing my ideas to life. It’s not only about seeing the final result, but about enjoying every step along the way. I love the little details — the preparation, sourcing décor, developing concepts, and collaborating with clients. For me, happiness lies in the creative flow of building something new and unique.

Another moment of happiness is seeing the joy in my clients’ eyes when they experience the finished work. Watching them smile in front of the décor I created, and later seeing those memories shared on their pages, gives me an immense sense of pride and joy.
