Rising Stars: Meet Christina Sledge of Columbia, MD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Sledge

Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are a husband and wife writing, publishing, and production team. We founded Sledge House Media in 2021, a cross-platform multi-media company to self-publish our first book, our memoir The Story of Christina and I. After publishing our memoir, we knew sharing it and all the other content we have in the pipeline with others was important.

We are driven to succeed. We rely on each other and our faith to get us through the rough patches.

We are extremely proud of our body of work thus far. Collectively we published ten books, two essays and produced two short films, Joined by Fate and Maryland Closed for COVID. Five of our books are bestsellers on Amazon. We tell diverse and compelling stories that highlight unique experiences and backgrounds. Additionally, all of our books are 200 pages or less to reach readers that are limited on time. We also offer indie authors self-publishing consulting services. We help make the self-publishing process easy and stress-free. We also recently launched a Sledge House Media merch store: https://sledgehousemediastore.com/

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Unfortunately, it has not been a smooth road throughout our twenty-two-year marriage.

We started our marriage with only two quarters. At the beginning of our marriage, we were a military family, which required us to navigate and learn how to balance military obligations and raise a family. Also, at one point in our marriage, we both were unemployed.

Those early struggles taught us resilience. When obstacles come our way, we dust ourselves off and keep moving. When more than one obstacle comes in our path, we tackle each one at a time. We realized early on that if we could survive both of us being unemployed simultaneously, we could survive anything.

We are driven to succeed. We rely on each other and our faith to get us through the rough patches.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Sledge House Media® is a multi-platform entertainment company that has been recognized for its exceptional storytelling. Since its founding in 2021, the company has won numerous awards for its diverse and compelling stories that showcase unique perspectives, experiences, and relationships. Sledge House Media offers live storytelling, video production, ghostwriting, turnkey publishing services, wide distribution, multi-genre publishing, and self-publishing workshops.

We are most proud of our debut children’s book, A Day at Shea. It is based off Eddie’s true story of going to his first baseball game by himself at 9 years old. We turned the books character into a girl to represent girls of color in the sport of Baseball. It is a heartwarming story of grit and determination.
