Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Davis.
Hi Christina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and began my career thinking I’d become an anchorwoman. When I graduated in 2009, however, the economy had tanked and I ended up falling into tech sales at a Silicon Valley startup. At 23, I bought my first house. I continued working up the ladder receiving promotions, going to President’s Club, and making large commission checks. I went on to work for tech giants such as Oracle and Google and received lots of notoriety at those companies for my sales skills. After lots of success, I found myself in a rut unhappy with my career trajectory even though I was paid well with two investment properties at 28. Then, things changed. I was fired from my job due to budget cuts. As sad as I was, I also saw it as an opportunity. Now, I can figure out what I really want to do outside of Tech. I started going to the gym a lot and became passionate about health and wellness. I became a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and grew a social media platform to which I began educating my clients and followers on how to live healthy and happy lives. When COVID hit, I lost all my fitness classes and clients, but I continued creating content through my social media platform where I found myself both in front of the camera and behind it. I started doing more video work for clients and fell in love with the process of creating content to help people grow their brands. My boyfriend, Patrick, and I decided to start Partial Media Productions, our production company specializing in photography and videography. To take our business to the next level, we moved to Los Angeles together to pursue bigger productions such as music videos and films. We’re both musicians and are thrilled to bring different facets of our lives together as we continue to the next step of our careers together.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been anything but a smooth road! When I got fired from my tech job, I got divorced three months later. I moved back to my parents’ house and had to start my life all over again. My mom wasn’t supportive when I got divorced, being a typical Indian mom. At that point, it was up to me to heal and recover from one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. It truly brought me to my knees, I felt like a true failure. I let my parents down and I let myself down. I really wanted to find love, and I thought I did. When I realized it was a failed attempt, I really took it personally and felt unworthy of good things. Believe it or not, I’m super thankful for that experience because I gained the opportunity to heal and rebuild my self-confidence. Today, I am so proud of my own resilience and I know the lessons I learned will only continue to help me as I continue to move forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started a video production company and produced music videos. Originally, we started out doing all kinds of video work for fitness studios to corporate ads. We ultimately want to create films, so decided to start out by doing music videos to learn the ropes of running large scale productions. I’m proud of the fact that my boyfriend, Patrick, and I are a solid team and were able to create a brand that is able to help people become successful artists.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m excited to grow Partial Media into a large production company getting hired by large clients to create movies and music videos. I love LA, but want to do work in New York, Paris, London, and other international cities depending on what I have to film. As I grow my production company, I also want to grow my personal brand by speaking on podcasts, interviews, hosting shows, and filming documentaries.
