Rising Stars: Meet Caroline Marechal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Marechal.

Hi Caroline, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in France, I spent the most important part of my life living in Paris until I moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago. As far as I can remember, I have always been passionate about movies and TV shows. I used to go to my local theater in Normandy at least once per month and this grew in my passion year after year.

After finishing my bachelor’s diploma, I moved to Paris where I started my professional path in the music industry. Luckily a few months later, I had the opportunity to join the internal home entertainment team where I could combine my passion and my dream job as a film publicist.

After that, I worked for two of the most prestigious American film studios for over two decades and I loved it!! Before the worldwide pandemic, I had the opportunity to move to Los Angeles and I catched the opportunity to fulfill my film career where everything started.

Unfortunately, no one could anticipate what we will live during this pandemic and I decided to make the life-changing decision to pack the essentials and leave Paris to move across the globe at the end of 2020. I would lie if I would say it was easy, especially the first year but I made my own life choice which I still don’t regret. Every great story has a new beginning, and mine starts here!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to get to where I am now has been hard and difficult but I am thankful for every step I’ve taken along the way.

I was terrified about leaving the comfort zone and safety net that is my family, friends, and my country. However, I was excited for this new chapter and especially for my kids.

I can say now with confidence that it’s a new beginning, a new chapter of our life and we are so thrilled to discover more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a freelance LA-based Public Relations Specialist with a strong background in film and TV series.

I am lucky and have been so blessed that I could work with prestigious film companies in France such as Universal Studios and Warner Bros. It has been an absolute dream come true.

I started my career as a junior publicist at M6, one of the first TV channels in France, then I joined the publicity team at Universal Pictures where I gained and learned a lot to finally pursue my career at Warner Bros. where I stayed for 15 years as a Film Publicity Manager.

My main assignments is to create, develop, manage and execute all publicity aspects of a film release and of course maintain and protect the companies reputation.

I had a blast and worked on fantastic projects; such as the Harry Potter Franchise, DC Comics films: The Joker, Superman, Shazam, Aquaman, Justice League.; with incredible filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, David Yates, Alfonso Cuaron, James Wan, Stephen Spielberg and many more; and talented actors: Matthew McConaughey, Ben Afleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Henry Cavill, Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy and so much more.

Each year I participated in film festivals in France. especially the Cannes Film Festival or the Annecy Animated Film Festival where we presented our latest feature film creating and organizing travel logistics, press junkets, premieres, Q&A’s, panels, TV line, red carpets and festival protocols.

I had also the chance to work on cross-divisional projects at Warner Bros. with all different departments: Games, Television, Consumer Products or Home Entertainment such as The Harry Potter Exhibition in Paris, the Comic-Con or My Warner Day.

Every day is different with different needs or different publicity campaigns with the challenge to connect with our audience and choose the best way to communicate benefits and key messages to them. You need to be innovative, creative and an expert in pitching press.

I also love my job because I can meeting new people and build new relationships.

When I think of my professional journey, I am proud of what I have achieved and I can’t wait for the next projects.

What makes you happy?
I think happiness is contagious.

I moved to Los Angeles especially for my kids because I wanted to offer them a life experience with a new culture, a new language, a new way of living and thinking.

Today my kids are super happy and well-integrated and since we moved here I spent more time than ever with them.

That makes me the happiest mother of the world and I am so proud of them!
