Rising Stars: Meet Captain Laura Einsetler of Palos Verdes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Captain Laura Einsetler

Hi Captain Laura , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had a love for powerful machines and speed when I was a young girl. Eventually, I found aviation and had my first flying lesson at the age of 15. I was hooked! Flying became my freedom, my goal, my addiction. I worked three jobs to pay for my lessons, and over the years I gained as much experience and education as I possibly could. Now, having reached the highest levels, I am giving back through CaptainLaura.com, my national media work, books and film writing, and speaking.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like the air currents, sometimes we have smooth areas and sometimes very turbulent locations. My life is indicative of this, very dynamic and ever changing. There has been some significant challenges, especially coming up through the ranks of a staunchly male dominated career field but I would not be where I am today if it were not for those women who paved the way before me and those men who believed in and championed me. I have the privilege of doing what I love and flying hundreds of people daily safely to where they want to be.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an airline Captain for a major U.S. airline flying domestically and internationally. I am an author, blogger, national news media aviation spokesperson, guest speaker, and mother of two. My passion for aviation and health has led me on a journey to help inspire others to persevere, overcome, and realize their dreams. I love to help share knowledge and insight to people if even just to help give a 10% better quality of life.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am a major risk taker but always analytical and calculated. I believe strongly that you have to believe in yourself and your capabilities in order to really go for it. For me, there has never really been a “no” as an accepted answer. There is always “yes” and just a matter of “how” to make it work best.. I always encourage others to consider the alternative of not taking the risk, to ask oneself if that is acceptable? Be open to opportunities and take those chances to gain those rewards.
