Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Krause Rising Sons Thai Boxing.
Hi Bryce Krause , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My names Bryce Krause owner of Rising Sons Thai Boxing in Newport Beach. I fought professional Thai boxing for 18 years and was a decorated amateur and professional champion fighting throughout California, Las Vegas and Thailand’s Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. Now my thirtieth year in the sport, Rising Sons Thai Boxing has been a collective community mission providing the local area with the opportunity to learn the art of Thai boxing whether it be for the exercise component or for the chance to climb over the ropes and compete themselves.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the past five years Rising Sons has been developing homegrown talent to compete on the local and national stages and even the international scene. We have Cade “Sonshine” Albracht now 20w – 8l who’s already had 12 fights this year. He’s competed throughout our nation and internationally in Ontario Canada and Monterey Mexico capturing four titles for the gym. On his heels is Nick “Yosemite Sam” Thorson a two time champion himself defending his title Nov 8 in LA. Under their gym leadership is an upcoming arsenal of young talent in Noah Primeau, Phil Hutchinson, Taj Miller, Arris “El Perro” and many more looking to establish themselves. The road is not an easy one but the grit and character development along the journey are the true dividends paying the highest rewards.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What we do in the gym is rather unique in that each person that passes through the door is on a journey themselves and is using Thai boxing as a vehicle to get them to where they’re going. We’ve had people broken emotionally that needed the love and community to put them back together. We’ve had men lose 175lbs again spiritually broken who now are living their best version of themself. There’s some magic in the gym that seems to cultivate an individual’s pursuit, it breathes the necessary components of resilience and dedication learned in the practice of Thai boxing that resonates deeper into oneself. This is the essence of Rising Sons Thai Boxing.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The great part of being thirty years into a journey that’s brought me everything in life, my career, my wife and three sons, a gym and community is that each part of the journey has been laden with trials and hardships that ultimately connect into victories of growth and knowledge. It’s because of the process that I now get to share the experiences learned with the community and foster the relationships with students to help them grow in their pursuits whether fighting or not. I’ve been saying this a lot lately when sharing stories of the gym. It’s like this, people show up carrying the weight of life and when they leave the gym that weight is lessened. Through time that weight becomes less and less until one day they’re not carrying that load anymore. It’s beautiful to see. There’s a really positive aspect in training alongside your brothers and sisters, enduring the hardships together that leads to becoming better humans.
