Rising Stars: Meet Brittany Keith of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Keith

Hi Brittany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In the beginning, I was going through the hardest time in my life. I had just lost my boyfriend of 7 years whom lost his battle to Stage 4 Sarcoma cancer. In which I was his sole care giver. Due to the depression his battle left me in, I started losing everything, I lost my car to repossession, I was evicted from my home. And I ended up in a 1 bd apartment thanks to a very good friend of mine. I battled through a lot of anxiety and developed agoraphobia where I no longer wanted to leave my home. I was very traumatized from everything that happened. During his battle I would vlog my days taking care of Ryan, he was of course fully consensual and he also would talk to supporters and go live with me. I think the vlogs really kept him busy during his battle. Helped him see the brighter side. With that being said, when he passed… I had a TikTok page with almost 300k followers and I did not feel like I could just continue vlogging my life on it. I didn’t know what to do with all the new followers because nothing felt right.. one day I was scrolling on TikTok live and I saw a woman selling snacks in UK, this was way before TikTok shop was a thing, I wanted to purchase some however shipping was far too expensive. I notice a lot of people on her comments wanting delivery to the USA. After a few times visiting her live, it clicked, I should start a business on TikTok live. I have followers and maybe I’ll get support. I had a small area in my home. And little to no money but I had some weird spark in me that made me believe I would be successful. I would pray about it daily and I spent every penny I would get , including government aid, on buying candy and snacks to sell online. I would survive on noodles and purchase dollar store candy. Once I can a shelf that looked okay enough to go live with, I tried my very first TikTok live. To my surprise I got 12 orders!! It was that day that I knew.. this was the right choice. After day one I had a fire in me that I’ve never had for anything else. I started going live every single day. Every penny I made I. Profit went towards more inventory. And so fourth. I started getting 20 orders a day. Then 30.. by the end of my first year I was getting 80 orders a day. Besides overhead and bills. I never spent a penny on myself. Everything went right back into the business. I outgrew my little apartment, I was essentially living in a candy store and sleeping on the floor. I would only use my kitchen for business washing bowls and I was being fed by my best friends mom. I began with 10 gummies to make custom candy bags… as time went on it went from 10 to 20 to 30 to 50 options. Going live almost every single day besides when I would candy shop. I would and still do till this day drive 4 hours back and fourth to pick out my candy stock by hand. I went from buying candy from the dollar store, to now working with the top candy distribution in the world. I moved from my 1 bedroom apartment to a 6 bedroom home. 3 rooms in which are now utilized for my studio in which I go live in, that has a wall of over 300 candy options to customize now! Instead of just bags I now do jars, trays, salad bowls! I do events and parties! I have a warehouse and a freezedry studio for freeze dry candy as well! I can proudly say I went from 45 viewers and 12 orders. To 1-5k viewers a live and over 200 orders a day in 3 hours. We have grown so much and I feel like it’s still only the beginning. I’m very proud of our accomplishments. I say our, because I have a team that works for me now.. and that very friend who helped me into my 1 bd apartment, when I was evicted… is now co owner of Kayy’s Kandie, he helps me pack orders live, I have made him financially free, we no longer worry about bills, I drive a brand new car. So does he.. And I am able to employ others. I feel blessed beyond words. And very grateful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was very bumpy at first, we were over paying for supplies, having a hard time finding suppliers. Had to walk packages up and down a 4 story apartment complex, and drive to the post office. No elevator. We would struggle to make sure we had enough money for restocking and bills. And sometimes have to choose eating for restocking. After the first year of business, believe it or not.. my mother then passed away.. that hit me so hard that I took almost a month off of working. However, like before. The pain motivated me to continue on. And I know Ryan and my mother are both rooting me on from above.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I own the most popular American Pick N Mix TikTok live show. We get the most views and sales out of any other live show in America. I’m
Very proud of where we began and where we are now. We’ve inspired other to start businesses as well. And we never once needed TikTok shop. Never paid for any influential help, zero marketing.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To never give up, there’s been days I wanted to give up.. and just let everything go. Work a 9-5… but I am
So proud I never did that. Owning a business is hard, but rewarding.
