Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Darlene Raudales.
Hi Brandy Darlene, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, I can write a whole entire book on the journey that lead me to where I am today. My passion and love for makeup artistry began after seeing my mother do her makeup. I sat in my small bathroom for countless hours experimenting and creating different fun looks. Once that seed was planted, I began doing it every day to a point where I could not see myself without it. I watched YouTubers whose life I dreamed to have. not because of what they had but how they made beauty into their careers. It’s been 9 years since then, my expertise and experience with makeup has advanced to a whole new level. I’m so glad I started when I did. Nonetheless, I never stop growing and evolving! The story doesn’t stop there.. I began creating so many innovating / unique makeup looks that I was recognized by the biggest makeup brands in the game! Brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, etc. to name a few. My career skyrocketed! I created so many makeup looks for different brands while using their products, built so many business relationships, had great paid opportunities, got invited to exclusive events! This wasn’t just a dream I had but I was living it. Making this my full time job. Being able to get paid for the work I did felt amazing. More doors started to open for me, I got hired at Sephora and worked there for 3 years. I met a whole new demographic of people who love makeup just like I did. Working at Sephora helped others find my work that eventually lead to more exposure. But I wanted more and knew I was capable of doing more with what I knew.. I’ve never been the person to settle for less. I devoted myself to learning more and getting my certification. After I completed my certification, another door had opened for me, an opportunity to teach / instruct at a beauty academy in Los Angeles. This academy consisted of so many talented artists who I had the privilege of working alongside. I then began offering lessons and classes to aspiring artists that wanted to learn my techniques. I became so great at teaching others that I eventually taught at 2 other different makeup academies in different areas of Los Angeles! After all the experience I had just gained, I became so confident and passionate about my work that I was later then offered to work as a social media marketing director/ assistant for a brand in Los Angeles named Artist Couture. Although the opportunity was amazing, I didn’t stay there for very long. I knew my purpose was to create, impact and inspire people. This all lead to where I am now.. which is having my own business as a Bridal Makeup Artist. I have never felt so content and fulfilled to be doing what I do now. Getting to be a part of someone’s special day while doing what I love to do is a privilege I don’t take for granted. This has been my most booked and busy year as a freelance makeup artist. My love for making others feel beautiful continues to grow. The more I invested in my supplies, makeup kit, education, etc. the more clients took me seriously enough to book me and even more than once. I’m very thankful to have clients who trust me and love my work! The next step is to glam all around the world. The journey continues and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The challenges I’ve faced are what pushed me to be where I am today. Growing up with no resources, to becoming homeless for a whole year at a young age. I was barely finding out who I was. Losing my mom was the hardest part of it all. I lost someone who very special and close to my heart… my best friend, confidant, and biggest supporter at a time I needed it the most. Becoming a new mother in the process of it all was very difficult. But that pain and loss formed me in to a great mother to my daughter. It drove me to strive for more because I had something to prove and still to this day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Professional Makeup Artist who specializes in Bridal Makeup. I travel anywhere in California to offer my services. I’m known for my unique, bold eye looks that were eventually all over Pinterest hehe, but I’m now known for my Soft Glam Makeup Style.
I’m most proud of my work, my consistency, my dedication, and my ability to provide any kind of makeup look to any demographic of clients. I think what sets me apart is the range of styles I have! I don’t stay boxed in to one particular category. I’m not afraid of a challenge.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe my consistency, confidence, ambition and social nature play a very important role in my success.
