Rising Stars: Meet Barry Under Your Bed of All over!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Under Your Bed

Hi Barry, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It started a long time again, when I used to be the monster that lives under your bed. No offense, but you guys are pretty boring…hanging out under there, waiting for something to happen, that just wasn’t the life for me. So, I struck out and started to explore the human world…and oh boy, is it cool!

I was mostly on my own for awhile, showing up at spooky conventions and events throughout Los Angeles, just trying to make some friends. But as people who know me can say, I am REALLY annoying…a foul-mouthed felt person is fun only for short periods of time.

It wasn’t until last year that things really started to pick up! I started doing more on social media (like videos showcasing some weird stuff), more appearances, and more shows, like Barry’s Gardening Service (where I sold “gardening supplies” during Hollywood Fringe.

These days, I co-host / ruin a semi-monthly variety show called The Monster Kid Club, for all the spooky kids at heart. I also host events and conventions with them as well, thereby slowly plotting our course for world domination. You can also catch me doing stand-up all over LA or doing anything else I can do for money.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not! Smooth roads are BORING!

One of the biggest struggles I’ve had is convincing people to take a chance on me. Sure, I may be a fluffy puppet with horns, but I’m the real deal!

People tend to not take me seriously because I AM a puppet, but if you spend two minutes with me, and you’ll be convinced that I am the best. Seriously!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mostly an annoying puppet, but those skills translate pretty well into stand-up and hosting duties. I truly do specialize in being annoying, but a lot of people seem to find that endearing for some reason.

I do a lot of stuff on social these days, showcasing cool places and events in SoCal. When I’m not chained to the internet machine, I like to get out there and see the people.

I’m really proud of all the weird stuff we’ve done with The Monster Kid Club. We’ve hosted several variety shows over the last year, showing off some of the best acts LA has to offer. We’ve been invited to host and perform at several events, so I guess that means we are doing something right.

I’m also proud that I’ve gotten to perform at some of the most famous comedy venues, like The Hollywood Improv…I mean, can you believe it?!

But what I think truly sets me apart from the rest is that I am a puppet.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My biggest cheerleader is Psychic Buster, whom you guys just interviewed! He’s the other half of the Buster/Barry comedy duo…if I didn’t get a chance to annoy him, I don’t think anything would ever get done. He invited me to perform with him once and then was never able to get rid of me….now he’s stuck with me! SUCKER!

I guess the other credit goes to my emotional support human, Jeff Heimbuch. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have a hand living inside me, helping to get around. He’s fine, I guess.
And the fans! Everyone has been so great since I started coming around…I appreciate you all!!!
