Today we’d like to introduce you to Audur Banks.
Hi Audur, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
After getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with it. I bounced around unhappy at many jobs until I decided to create my own working lifestyle. That’s when I found UGC (User Generated Content) from a random TikTok video and decided to go all in as a content creator for brands. I never ever looked back, and now, here I am, a full-time UGC creator and creative producer!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle to going out on your own and becoming a content creator or a freelancer is that you have to build yourself up before you can build your business up. You must go deep, and heal any self-doubt, and do a lot of inner work before you can show up with the right energy to win at this game.
This is also one of my favorite perks of the job because it’s self-improvement built into your work! Win-Win!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a content creator specializing in user-generated content (UGC), and I am also a creative strategist and producer for TikTok ads. I’d say I’m known for creating authentic, detail-oriented, snappy ads for brands because I keep my finger on the pulse of what’s working and not working in this ever-changing industry.
If you don’t know what UGC is, it’s the result of the evolution of social media and influencing, where normal, everyday people create content for brands to post on THEIR socials or use as ads, as opposed to an influencer who posts the content on their own platforms.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
A mentor is great, but I think camaraderie is more important. My advice is to network, chat, and engage with others in your industry. Show support and create friendships. What worked well for me was that at the beginning of my journey, I was not afraid to book coaching calls with other creators who started around the same time I did. I would pick their brain, and usually, we would stay in touch and become close friends!
