Rising Stars: Meet Ariana Sloan of Santa Clarita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Sloan.

Ariana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey in the entertainment industry when I was eight years old. The first thing that I booked was a spot on PBS. After that, I fell in love with acting. I wanted to be a normal kid though, so my parents raised me in the suburbs, where I attended public school. I was so lucky to have a supportive family. My parents drove me all over LA daily. I remember my mom picking me up early all the time for auditions and callbacks. I had so much fun on several different commercial and movie sets. I was trained as a triple threat, so I was a busy kid! I would go to school, and then after, I would attend my dance, acting, and singing classes. I got bullied as a kid sometimes because of my red hair and buck teeth with a gap. I decided to channel those experiences into art. I would write songs about how girls were “trippin’ and gettin’ in my face” all the time. It was actually really funny and cute. I knew I wanted to be a singer and record those songs, so my parents helped me find producers and even backup dancers for shows. We dressed like cheerleaders and put on fun shows. Instead of having a bat mitzvah at 13, I decided to record an EP. I wanted something I could keep forever. After that, I performed my songs all over at charity events, parties, beaches, venues like the whiskey a go go and house of blues. I joined a couple of girl groups where I got the opportunity to work with a team and record songs together. We auditioned and shopped around, but it didn’t work out. After I graduated high school, I decided to further my training and I attended AMDA College and Consrrvatory of the Performing Arts. I did the accelerated program where I was able to achieve my bachelors degree within only three years. My focus was in Musical Theater. Previous to this training, I didn’t have too much theater experience aside from the shows I did at school. It was nice to gain some tools to add to my tool belt. After college, I attended the Route 91 music festival in Las Vegas, where I survived the mass shooting. I’m a strong individual and come from a strong family of holocaust survivors, so I was able to find healthy ways to move on from that. I took a little break from the business after that. I never quit, because as an artist, I continue to create, but I found myself working a lot to survive out here in LA. I picked up multiple jobs, fell in love a couple of times, moved around, and even rescued my dog. After grinding for years and experiencing life in my 20s, I decided to jump back into the industry. For the last 2 years, I have been modeling, acting in comedy sketches, and writing/recording more music. It feels so freeing to do what I love. I’ve met so many special souls along the way also. I never thought I could be a model because I am short and petite at only 5’2. I was always told you have to be super tall to do that, but its what I love to do. I want to capture my youth through photography now. I’ve learned to do the things you want to do now, because tomorrow isn’t promised.
