Rising Stars: Meet Alex Dry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Dry.

Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to continue my career in professional dance and modeling. At the age of ten years old, I had the opportunity to come to Los Angeles for dance through Debbie Allen. She opened many doors for me and was able to take my dance career to the next level. Debbie Allen is someone who will always be inspiration to me because not only was I able to dance with some of the best choreographers and artists in the world but coming from a small town in Texas, she is the reason I am in Los Angeles today. After moving to Los Angeles, I unfortuntely had an injury that didn’t allow me to continue to pursue dance on a professional level which was a hard obstacle to overcome. I look back now and am thankful because God was redirecting my path which opened the doors for me to pursue my career in marketing and fashion.

In 2015, I started with in the marketing industry for companies such as Flipagram, TikTok, Pearpop, and several more. I have built and established a network through working in talent acquisition, campaign management, and activations. While I continue to work in marketing, I wanted to pursue fashion as well.

I started working on DripDry in 2019 when I saw a disconnection in the swimsuit industry with accessorizing swimwear styles. This was the start of my mission to create a new style that has not been created which introduces a trendy versatile design that can resonate with all women. I have a strong passion for the fashion industry but also have many sides to the way I dress depending on the occasion or the way I’m feeling that day. I love to dress up my swimwear with some cute body chains but I also love repping some of my swimwear tops with a pair of leggings, oversized bomber, and nikes for a sporty look. DripDry was born into the idea of creating a line that is a quality product at an affordable price but doesn’t limit you to the standard misconception of it can only be worn one way.

I love working and pride myself on being a go-getter, never wanting to settle. It is important to always do what you love and never let anyone tell you that you are not capable of anything.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course, I have experienced struggles along the way. My biggest critic is myself! I have struggled with anxiety since I was little and that brings many things such as overthinking and self-doubting. I have learned to control it through many different outlets but that doesn’t mean it is still not present. My faith is something I really lean into and always putting out the energy you want to receive will get you really far when overcoming obstacles.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Honestly, I am so thankful because I have had many people in my life that have contributed to my success. My family have always been my biggest supporter. My dad is an entrepreneur. Growing up around him, I was able to learn so much about business and he inspires me every day.
