Rising Stars: Meet Adam Silverman of Woodland Hills, Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Silverman.

Adam Silverman

Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Adam Silverman. I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, located in Los Angeles. I grew up playing baseball, going to the beach, and gravitated to visual arts, drawing/painting. One of my earliest art memories was going to my friends birthday party at a very young age maybe 6, or 7.. It was a paint party, that included a variety of small statues to paint on. I was the only one in the group that picked the Abe Lincoln statue, in fact I share the same birthday as Lincoln.. Years later, around 11-12 years old, the Lincoln statue I painted was featured on a reality T.V. show, in trade to do a makeover on my bedroom.

My interests have always been related to creative genres, mostly films, T.V. and art.. I loved movies from a very young age and earned my Bachelors degree in Cinema & Television Production, from California State University, Northridge in 2016. After college I worked as a Production assistant on the final season of an episode of “Bones”, and worked as a background actor on multiple network T.V. shows..

I started a clothing brand in 2020 called “Owl Omen”, after an owl landed right in front of me in my backyard. I feel that inspiration surrounds us all the time, and the artist job is to act on that inspiration. The same goes for my paintings. I have always drawn/sketched and painted throughout my life. When I started sharing my art on social media, and my online gallery, “A list gallery”, family and friends started showing interest. I began showing my paintings at local farmers markets, and then it progressed to art galleries. my art mediums are spray paint, acrylic, oil, basically anything I can create with..

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, my artistic journey has been a roller coaster of emotions. From the highest high, to the lowest low. Making a painting is like going to battle, you have to be prepared, use strategy and complete your mission. The battle is also internal, meaning having the courage to express my imagination and not worry about what people think. I am passionate about painting, and telling stories on canvas. Even if I won the lotto I would still be painting. I think dealing with the creation of Ai art has changed the game completely. The real struggle for me is trying to be an individual in a world that wants everyone to fit into society.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Artist that uses all mediums, spray paint, acrylic, oil, basically anything I can create with.. My art pieces can be described as very colorful representing vibrant energies, spirit and light. I want people to feel my inspiration and narrative connected with each painting. My objective is to create paintings that are visually appealing, fun, original, and ultimately tell stories within the paintings. I’m most proud of all of my work from the “good” to the “bad”. I am a self taught artist, I learn something new every time I make a painting. What sets me apart from other artists is my ability to never give up. I might not have proper art training, but I have a hunger and passion to create and capture stories by painting them on canvas.. My art school was creating and learning from making my own paintings. I’m also expanding my artwork from canvas, to new art patches and poster prints.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love this city. This city shaped me in every way. There is so much inspiration in the city, and it reflects in my paintings. I’m currently working on a series of paintings called “Street Angles”, Inspired by “The City of Angels”. Something I like least about our city is the government does not do a good job helping mentally ill, and veteran homeless people.
