Meet YXNG BA$$

Today we’d like to introduce you to YXNG BA$$, the Syrian-Lebanese artist who’s about to take over the music industry.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I don’t even know where to start, I grew up in Lebanon a city where they were pretty closed-minded when it came to music and the arts. Moved to LA when I was about 11, then back Lebanon then back to LA. I’ve been all over the world, I get influence from everywhere with my music. I started making music when I was 15, decided it was what I wanted to do full time when I was 18. I always wanted to be that kid in school that nobody would forget, I did that. Now it’s time to be that kid on earth that nobody will forget.. I couldn’t tell you my story if I had the chance to, cause it’s still going on. You don’t read a book that doesn’t have somewhat of an ending do you? I mean I don’t know, but what I know is; this is just the start.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I mean it’s been a crazy ride, I’ve traveled the world trying to become the person/artist I wanna be. From Lebanon to LA, I was able to see who messes with what and what they take away from my craft. I was the first artist in Beirut to bring that real WestCoast vibe to the city. Then I started hearing my music bumping in Clubs, radio-stations and more. That’s when all the jealousy started to pour in. But as an artist, you got to see the people you surround yourself with. No matter the real or the snakes, you gotta straight up tell them “These are my dreams, this is who I am if you don’t like it f**k off.” Nobody and nothing should come between you and your craft, it’s as simple as that. I don’t care if you hate my music, thank you for listening.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As a Syrian-Lebanese kid who’s moved back and forth between Lebanon and LA, it was hard to really know what the people wanted in two completely different cultures. I was involved in a lot of the nightlife in Beirut, which really worked up my networking. In fact, I’m currently working on the music video for my new track Star, working on my next huge project, “The Lord of La Grange,” and just constantly in the studio grinding and grinding. Everybody is gonna eat with me. Never stopping, foot on the necks, you know it, FLM for life habibti.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We got plenty: my personal DJ, Producer, and Uncle-like figure DJ T-MAK. How we met was a crazy story, his team approached me at a club, they liked my energy, we met and decided it was time to turn up the city. T-MAK has recently released a track called “Like Me” ft Yam and Myself. I met Ibrahim Dakik, the creative director and genius behind“ The Life of Abraham”, and my immediate love for fashion clicked with his. He has designed 1/1 pieces for me and you will see them in my upcoming music video for my new track STAR, which is out now everywhere!! VisualsbyTurtle is the creative genius behind the “Money Dance” music video that was shot in Lebanon but had to be delayed numerous times due to the instability in the country.

Turtle executed my vision exactly how I wanted and needed it to be. Right now, I’m working with my brother MKDMC on “FLM SOUNDS”. FLM SOUNDS. is a collective/record label that we are hoping to push the boundaries of the industry. It doesn’t only include music though, it includes streetwear, music, photography, videography, and more from all different talented individuals working hard to take their craft to the next level. MKDMC and I are working on pushing this along with his upcoming tracks “GOT IT” and “Working With” ft. myself. My brother Cozi, this dude has been by my side since before I started this music and everything. One of the most talented, humble, funny motherf**kers I know. He is also my creative director, photographer, and more. He got legs in every artistic niche. My music wouldn’t be what it is today with Big Coz.
