Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Duong.
Hi Yvonne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is one of growth, exploration, and learning to embrace change. It started long before I even realized it. I grew up in the beauty industry – my parents have owned nail salons since I was born, so from a young age, I was constantly surrounded by the rhythm and energy of beauty professionals doing what they love. At the time, I didn’t think much of it—it was just a part of everyday life. But now, I can see how deeply those early experiences shaped me. They planted seeds of passion and familiarity with self-care, personal connection, and helping others feel good about themselves.
As I got older, I took a different route and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. I was always drawn to the idea of helping people, and health felt like a practical path. But as I moved deeper into that field, I realized something was missing. I wasn’t feeling fulfilled. I wasn’t excited. I kept finding myself pulled back toward the beauty and wellness space, specifically skincare. That’s when it clicked: I had been surrounded by this world my whole life, and it wasn’t just familiar, it was something I genuinely loved.
I started to recognize how passionate I was about skincare and the deeper meaning behind it. It wasn’t just about the surface, it was about building confidence, creating comfort, and connecting with others. I’ve always been a natural communicator, and helping people feel at ease in their own skin just came intuitively. That realization led me to esthetics, and everything started to fall into place from there. That’s when I pursued my esthetics career and became a Licensed Esthetician, which has been one of the most rewarding decisions l’ve ever made.
Around that same time, I moved back to the Inland Empire after spending almost ten years living on the East Coast. That decade was life-changing. Being so far from home and everything familiar forced me to really get to know myself. It was tough at times, but those years were incredibly formative. It taught me resilience, independence, and how to carve out space for myself in a completely different environment. Going through challenges gave me a strong sense of identity. It helped me discover who I am, what I care about, and what kind of life I want to build. Coming home felt like a reset, and stepping into esthetics felt like coming full circle.
Outside of the treatment room, I’m a proud auntie to two goofy dogs – a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever, who keep me on my toes and laughing every day. I’m a big fan of cooking and love exploring new spots to eat, especially those tucked – away gems with amazing flavors. Music also plays a huge role in my life. I love going to live shows and festivals. The energy, the creativity, the connection – it all fuels me and inspires how I show up in life and in my work.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every twist and turn in my story – each moment of discomfort, discovery, and evolution. All of it led me to where l am now: grounded, passionate, and my career in esthetics has given me a deeper sense of purpose. I truly believe in always growing, always learning, staying true to who you are, and the best is still ahead.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I truly believe the challenges have shaped me in the best ways. Gaining experience, navigating new skills, and finding confidence in a new career takes time and the struggles taught me patience and persistence. They made the wins that much more meaningful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a licensed esthetician specializing in customized Medical-grade facials, Hydrafacial, Chemical peels, Dermaplaning, Emsculpt Neo, Exion, Emface, as well as trained in ZO Skin Health, Epicutis, Metagenics, and Designs for Health. I work closely with my clients to address their unique skin concerns—whether it’s acne, texture, sensitivity, or just needing that extra glow. I take the time to educate my clients, explain what’s going on with their skin, and empower them with simple, effective routines they can stick to. I also love incorporating holistic touches into my services, blending science-backed skincare with a mindful, nurturing approach.
What sets me apart is that I truly care, not just about the skin, but about the whole person. My goal isn’t just to make you glow on the outside, but to help you leave feeling lighter, more confident, and more in tune with yourself. It’s important to me to create a space where they feel heard, cared for, and safe. I think that human element—being fully present, intentional, and heart-centered in my work—is what makes the biggest difference.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people might not expect is that, even though I work in a hands-on, client-facing career and love connecting with people, I’m actually a huge homebody at heart. I really cherish my alone time—it’s how I recharge and stay balanced. Give me a cozy night in with a good meal, a playlist, and a relaxing nighttime routine, and I’m totally content.
People often assume I’m always out and about because of my love for music, events, and social energy, but I also thrive most when I have space to just be. That balance between connection and solitude is something I’ve learned to embrace, and I think it helps me show up more fully in both my personal life and my work.
