Meet Yvette Lopez of Studio City California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Lopez.

Hi Yvette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Being the eldest of three younger brothers, lead me to have a natural affinity and passion for babies and assisting early on in my childhood years. Seeing how much of a powerful helpful impact I was to my very own Mother kept me striving for doing more. After having gone to school for Fashion, I would babysit on my weekends to help fund my Fashion Shows. During this time I noticed the same satisfaction parents would experience when I was able to engage, feed or put the baby down seamlessly. This was such a rewarding feeling as I always exceeded the parents expectations every time and now I was earning a living doing so. It’s fair to say my clientele quickly grew in volume, my references speaking for themselves. I soon realized I needed to put my love for bows and fabric aside for bottles and babies. With each new family, came new cultures, traditions and home practices. Adapting tactfully to each new private space was essential, still maintaining my essence and the knowledge I brought on infant care, routine and structure. While always providing an exceptional caliber of baby care and service. Being able to pivot plans at last minute’s notice with traveling NCS twin clients for a powerhouse mom whom was obtaining her Master’s Cross country being three months postpartum in NYC. To a Saudi Royalty Member whom needed 24/7 Newborn Care Specialist Support while on Vacation in a Fancy Villa in Los Angeles. Adaptation, Ability, and A-List Needs soon became what I was know for. An Executive, CEO, Artist, or Chief of Staff is trained to trouble shoot and produce solutions. With babies, there is no one fixed recipe. As every baby develops differently, postpartum has various phases and looks different for every new mother. Some exclusively desire to breastfeed around the clock every three hours, some like to learn and observe during my shifts while I bottle feed formula. Some have tea in the mornings, While others decide to basque in sleep and connect bout how the night when via an App. Not one mom is a better mother. The end result is rest for the entire family. A happy healthy thriving baby is the goal. This is intuitive work done with the heart. Where life long relationships are created for many years to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As an NCS (Newborn Care Specialist) you can come across varied experiences where perhaps a client (mother) will have a certain idea of what she considers to be ideal and a (father) whom has different views on what he would like for the baby’s milestone’s, development or benchmarks. It is imperative to always create a safe neural and honest safe space where both are being heard and to be able to come to an agreement and end goal. Seeing the difference you can make in a home creating calming and reassuring environments are highly rewarding.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Newborn Care Specialist working alongside predominantly micro preemies, medically fragile or multiples. Having the opportunity to enter homes where babies have just left the NICU, managing to assist them to increase weight, reach goals, see them obtain all the green lights by their Pediatrician, is a constant reminder of the importance of doing such a diligent job. I is a constant reminder when young moms say “You bring such warmth and dedication with you every night, you not only bring peace to our newborns, but too all in the home.”Taking care of new moms is so rewarding to me, because I remember my early days as a new mom, there can be some challenging moments.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Absolutely, take as many courses, workshops, attend as many events and network. Even I as a veteran in my industry can always learn, I pick up on new ways of doing things with every new baby there are opportunities to learn from. Don’t be afraid to ask for a mentor. Knock on all doors, ask for feedback from clients. Eventually, you don’t have to work or promote yourself. There comes a time when all your past clients are your walking Billboards. The calls start coming in and soon enough them won’t stop. As you give genuinely and pour into those families you create dynamic relationships and they forever pour back into you. Because people will may not always remover what you say but we are human and we will forever remember how someone made us feel. This is something that is done from the heart.
