Today we’d like to introduce you to William Reed.
William, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a kid my family moved to Germany for work. Growing up there I was exposed to the underground punk, alternative and electronic music scenes. This, combined with a healthy dose of 90’s-era British MTV, shaped my early musical development.
After high school, I landed in Arizona. Here I would quickly get involved with the underground desert rave scene via mutual friends.
One day my mate and I were invited to DJ a house party. Armed with a couple portable Discman and a Radio Shack mixer we obliged. Technically that was my first DJ gig.
Fast forward to a few years later I was invited to spin records one night at a now-defunct dive bar. That one night turned into a weekly residency and a legendary dance party that lasted for five years. The rest is history.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been ups and downs over the years of course.
Trends change, venues come and go, club-goers grow up and have families.
As a DJ you adapt to change and grow along the way.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m so very grateful to have made a career as a DJ, event producer, radio show and music TV host over the years.
It’s always humbling and a great honor to receive recognition whether it’s a “Best Dance Party” or “Best DJ” award along the way.
My eclectic taste in music has dictated my diverse DJ sets and event production over the years.
Looking forward I’m excited to share a few events leading up to the new year and beyond.
Sat Nov 23 Singles Going Steady – A Rock & Roll Dance Party at The Short Stop.
Fri Dec 20 Club 1984! An 80’s, New Wave, Synth Pop Dance Party at The Satellite.

These aside you can find me every Tuesday at Breakroom 86, Fridays at Pour Vous and Saturday’s at Harvard & Stone with monthly residencies at Bardot, Library Bar, Hotel Figueroa and Bar Henry.
What were you like growing up?
I’m a Leo so I’ve always been outgoing ever since I can remember.
Growing up I was always curious. I wanted to be exposed to and absorb as much good music as I possibly could.
And when I discovered something new I wanted to share it with everyone I knew.
That’s why I got into music journalism—interviewing bands, reviewing albums and live concerts—and then subsequently hosting radio and music TV shows.
