Today we’d like to introduce you to Wave
Wave, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all kicked off back in high school, where while everyone was out on the court shootin’ hoops, I was in the classroom spittin’ bars with my crew. Rapping was my escape, my passion, and I knew early on this was my path. For my senior project, I went all out and built an 8-foot recording booth—yeah, you heard that right. I was diving deep into the music industry, showcasing my vision. That project wasn’t just schoolwork; it was my declaration that I was going to make it in music.
After I graduated, I took my talents to Southern University in Baton Rouge. Man, that place was a game-changer. I found my tribe, soaked up the culture, and kept honing my sound. I was hitting up cyphers, performing at every event I could, and connecting with legends in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge scenes. Working with producers like Flight School, BEEZE, and Dosha Burna, I crafted tracks that started to turn heads and build my buzz.
Things really kicked into high gear in 2014 when I linked up with FLOW from Young Money. We dropped “I Do,” produced by the late NIYO from Flight School, and that joint blew up! My catchy hook paired with FLOW’s raw bars had the streets vibing. That was a turning point for me, and I kept grinding, dropping projects like BORN WAVEY and the TRAP WAVE mixtape series. My tracks like “VOGUE,” “TRIO,” “F.E.H.Y,” “PRADA U,” and “OFF WHITE” just added to the fire.
Now, I’m rolling under the name WAVE—no more “Bando Wavey.” That switch was about more than just a fresh title; it’s about evolution. I’ve faced my share of struggles, learned lessons the hard way, and come out stronger. This new chapter is all about growth and resilience, and I’m here to show the world what I’m made of. Let’s get it!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Let me tell you, my journey from the streets of New Orleans hasn’t been easy, but it’s been real. I came up in some tough times, dealing with hardships that could’ve knocked me off my feet. But I always knew I had something special, and finding the right people who believed in me was a major turning point.
Funding my music independently? Man, it’s an everyday grind. I hustled hard, facing financial struggles and trying to make moves without the backing of a big label. The industry can be a maze, and it’s tough to stay true to your vision while navigating all that noise. But through all the ups and downs, I’ve built a solid network of supporters who share my dream.
Now, I’m on the brink of something big, and I can feel it. I’ve got this magnetic energy, and I’m ready to claim my spot in the hip-hop scene. I’m just getting started again, so I’m excited to show the world what WAVE is all about.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For sure! So, I officially stepped into the game back in December 2010, and it’s been a wild ride since then. I’ve been grinding hard to build my online presence and connect with my fans. You can catch my music on platforms like YouTube under @B.wavey100k, and I’m making waves on Boomplay, too—my albums are getting love from all around the globe.
Recently, I dropped “STUNTIN,” which has been vibing well with the fans. I’ve got my project “MOTOWN” about to drop soon, and I’m also cooking up a full project before the year wraps. Collaborating with artists like King Los, Lil Duke from YSL, and the late Drakeo The Ruler has been huge for me, and I’m really proud of the organic journey I’ve had. Trust me, I’m not slowing down anytime soon. The best is yet to come!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Boom, wrapping up, I’d say one thing that might surprise people—even those who think they know me—is how big I am on fitness. When I’m not in the studio, I’m usually at the gym, pushing my limits. Staying fit is a big part of my lifestyle; it keeps me healthy and helps me stay focused, you know?
And here’s another one: I don’t write my lyrics down. It’s all off the dome for me. When I’m creating, everything comes straight from my head—raw emotion, pure flow, no pen or paper. That spontaneity brings a realness to my music, making every track feel like a moment that just happened. It’s all about capturing that vibe in the moment. So yeah, that’s WAVE for you—always evolving, always authentic. Thanks for vibing with me today.
