Meet Wade and Danielle Papin of Pyrrha in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wade and Danielle Papin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Wade and Danielle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started out literally making jewelry at our kitchen table and just grew whenever and wherever we could. When we needed something, we found a way to get it. We have done absolutely every job within our company at one point or another. Even now, we make a point of spending time in each department, and we find that helps us stay connected to the jewelry, the people who help us to make it, and to the customer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have had our share of bumps along the road, but nothing we couldn’t handle because we always looked at growth as something that was organic. Opportunities have a way of showing themselves, and if you are paying attention, you can take advantage of them. When we started out we really struggled to figure out how to make what we wanted, how to work together as a team…and sometimes just how to pay the bills while staying true to ourselves. But we always tried to put things in perspective and breathe through the issues. Taking time for ourselves was our best strategy, and we always came out the other side better for that.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
No one ever succeeds without a bit of luck, but having said that, we feel like we have worked very hard for everything we have achieved. Most of what we could attribute to luck has come to us by way of being in the right place at the right time: seeing our space go up for lease mere hours before we came walking along, a big Hollywood agent noticing our line at one of her favourite shops and buying a few pieces for her clients, an A list customer happening upon our store and thinking that the Never Look Back talisman would be perfect for a wrap gift. These are things that you do have to rely on luck to get started, but you also have to be ready to do the work required to make something of those opportunities.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pyrrha – what should we know?
We design and make jewelry. We are known for our talismans, and each design has its own symbolic meaning culled from heraldry. Each piece is highly personal and the people who wear Pyrrha choose their own talismans based on what speaks to them. It’s this connection to our customers that we are most proud of – these are pieces that people love and treat as though they are a part of them. Sustainability is a big part of our company and one of the things that is most important to us. We are a certified carbon neutral B Corporation, so we meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
