Today we’d like to introduce you to Vinhanh Nguyen.
Hi Vinhanh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Vinhsproductions in 2023 from a genuine love for sports, storytelling, and creating content that makes athletes feel seen. As an athlete myself, I understood how much the right photo or video could capture not only a highlight, but the work, emotion, and personality behind it.
What began as me building my portfolio and covering local athletes and teams grew through networking, consistency, and word of mouth. Since then, I’ve had opportunities to create content for professional and high-level athletes, basketball programs, trainers, brands, churches, and sports organizations. My work has also been featured and shared by major sports media platforms.
I’ve continued developing both the creative and business sides of Vinhsproductions, from photography and videography to short-form content, athlete branding, and social media campaigns. My goal is to grow Vinhsproductions into a full-time sports media company while continuing to tell stories that give athletes, teams, and brands content they’re proud to represent themselves with.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building Vinhsproductions from the ground up while learning both the creative and business sides at the same time. Early on, I had to prove the value of my work, build a portfolio, find clients, invest in equipment, and learn how to turn relationships into consistent opportunities.
There have also been periods where work was inconsistent or where I questioned whether I was progressing fast enough. Balancing the business with school, basketball, and other responsibilities has forced me to become better with my time and stay disciplined even when results weren’t immediate.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that talent alone isn’t enough. Consistency, networking, professionalism, and being willing to keep learning have been just as important. Every challenge has helped me become more confident in my work and more intentional about where I want to take Vinhsproductions.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Vinhsproductions specializes in sports photography, videography, and short-form content, with a strong focus on sports and athlete storytelling. I create everything from game coverage and mixtapes to cinematic reels, training content, brand campaigns, and social media content for athletes, teams, trainers, and organizations.
What separates my work is that I’m an athlete too as I have played college basketball. I know what athletes actually want to see because I’ve been on the other side of the camera. I understand the game, what moments matter and what makes a play or an athlete stand out. I’m not just there to point a camera and record. I want my content to show who the athlete is and make them feel like the main character without making it feel forced or fake.
I want Vinhsproductions to be known for more than just clean photos or videos. I want the work to capture the energy, personality, and story behind the athlete or brand and create something people actually remember!
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is honestly pretty simple. Being around my family and friends, playing basketball and creating. I love being able to pick up a camera and turn an idea in my head into something real. Sports has been a huge part of my life too, so being able to combine that with what I do for work is something I really enjoy. I also like seeing the people around me succeed and knowing I was able to play even a small part in that. At the end of the day I’m happiest when I’m doing what I love with people I care about.
