Meet Valentina Latyna of VOAtlanta en Espanol

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valentina Latyna.

Hi Valentina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I used to picked up the house phone line and hear people even family members getting confused with my voice and my mom’s. That was my first VoiceOver gig unpaid; pretending to be my mom whenever was convenient for me.

I always knew my voice can transmit and communicate, but really didn’t know how to start in the Voiceover world. After many years doing some Tv promos and dubbing Spanish-English I finally came to Los Angeles and opened my Studio. No words to explain the ups and downs but mostly have been ups and bookings and agents, etc. The secret was: Preparation. I remember attending a voiceover conference in Atlanta and that experience, not only as a networking but the content was just exactly what my career needed for a before and after. I am proud to be a full-time bilingual Voiceartist and currently Director of the Spanish program for VoAtlanta, the biggest conference for newbies, pros and celebrities of the Voiceover industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The ease of finding information especially for foreign VoiceOver talent was and still is very difficult. Although one can say there are many resources out there, such as social media to take the first step into the VoiceOver industry, in reality nowadays, it could be harder to make a choice with the over-saturation of such information.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are VOAtlanta the biggest congress in the States for voiceovers, vo directors, engineers, recording and post-production studios. Since 2013 we have brought people together around a common interest; building a great community. Vo Atlanta has done this by partnering with quality presenters and partners to bring value and exciting experiences to members of the voiceover community whether they be seasoned pro or beginners. We’re happy to invite you to join us as we continue to build a strong community.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think, because of my age, being in the industry for 28 years is surprising to many of my colleagues. I was born in 1985, and began my career in 1995, anyway. Please don’t do the math!
