Meet Trailblazer Lolita Minasova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lolita Minasova.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Your teenage years are a weird time in your life. Everyone seems to be confident about which path they want to take, what university they’re attending, and you feel like the only one who is lost without any real purpose or plan. I am in my mid-20s and I still feel a bit lost, but hey, that’s okay. I made the ballsy decision to drop out of an economics university, and whilst growing up in Moscow, Russia, decided to move to LA at the age of 18. My parents were, let’s say, a little more than shocked, and still are today. I still did it anyway, graduated with a bachelors degree in filmmaking, and now work an 8-5 job in marketing, but trying to find a career that will not only pay (some) bills but will also allow me to feel creatively fulfilled.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It certainly has not, starting with moving across the ocean, studying filmmaking and doing it in a language other than your native, to essentially creating a new life in a foreign land that feels like an entirely different planet. My biggest struggle has always been figuring out my path. However, I’ve always seen being a woman as one of my assets; I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you have to work twice as hard just to be noticed and accepted, then it means you will be forced to push yourself to be the best you possibly can, and that’s a good thing. Focus on your craft, happiness and passion. Don’t spend time thinking “If only I were a man, I’d have it easier…”, that is energy wasted. Focus on you.

We’d love to hear more about Tacho Nacho.
While doing this 8-5 thing, I try to spend my free time on my creative outlets in order to stay sane. Very basic-millennial-girl of me, but I feel a sigh of relief when I’m able to work on my style/lifestyle Instagram account. My handle is @tacho_nacho, which always makes people chuckle and refer to me as “taco” nacho often, instead of my real name. I share my style, sources of inspiration, as well as some of the best places in sunny Los Angeles (specifically Venice/MDR, where I reside). I will be expanding my brand, as I have a YouTube channel underway, since I’ve done that before and miss it terribly. I also miss my film school days, where I got to create some fun projects, be that a short dark comedy film, or a music video featuring my opera singer sister, milking a goat. Search my name on Vimeo for that 😉

I will also try to take some acting classes ASAP, as it’s always been on my mind since I was a child. If the only thing it does is help me come out of my shell a bit more, then that’s already a huge achievement in itself.
