Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Aaron.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Krystal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My entrepreneurial journey really starts back in 2015. I came across BossBabe, which is a brand created by Alex Wolf that encourages female entrepreneurs to be feminine bosses. I immediately felt a sense of acceptance and as though my dreams were valid. So, I started working closely with Alex and tried a bunch of different things in hopes that eventually something would stick. It was a very bumpy road, I made a lot of mistakes, and wasted a lot of money, but I have always been determined to find my place not only as an entrepreneur but as a creator.
I ended up landing on what today is known as The Clique, which is a support system for women transitioning from college to adulthood.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has never been a smooth road, and I’m convinced it never will be. For me personally, a lot of my struggles had to do with time management and clarity. I’m certainly one of those people who is interested in literally everything, and it was nearly impossible for me to focus – which is a recipe for a disaster as a young entrepreneur.
So, I learned to just keep trying some recommended hacks and habits until I naturally found a system that worked best for my schedule and my personality. Everyone will have their “recommended hack” or “best advice” but the truth is you may need to mix several different hacks from different sources to find your own path.
I highly recommend looking to those who are in your field and observing how they behaved early in their career. They may be living it up on the beach now, but I’m sure they had some long nights in the past. The best way to do this is to look for podcasts and interviews they’ve done and also reading any books they recommend. In the age of social media, you can even try DMing them to see what exactly you can do to follow in their footsteps and start practicing what works best for you.
Please tell us about The GlowGetter Clique – what should we know?
The GlowGetter Clique is a support system for women transitioning from college to adulthood. We do this by offering quality advice like “when to get a mammogram” or “how to understand your employee benefits.” Growing up can be scary and lonely, so we like to make it a little bit easier.
I’m extremely proud of all the women we have helped through the brand. In combination with my writers and users, I have managed to actually help real women and that’s incredibly rewarding. I love when I get a DM from someone that says how much an article helped them, or an IG post inspired them. It lets me and my team know that there isn’t a lot of advice that speaks to young women in a way that they understand, so I’m thrilled to provide such a relatable platform.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Growing up, I always took leadership positions, No matter what it was, if it sounded like I’d be in charge, I took it! I really feel like I am a natural leader and it’s in my bones, from the time I led “Quite Time” in fifth grade till the time I planned senior prom. Some people are just born to trail blaze, and I know I’m one of those people.
