Meet Trailblazer Amelia Skye

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amelia Skye.

Amelia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up with my amazing family of five in the town of Hudson, Wisconsin and lived there my whole life up until I moved to Los Angeles in July of 2018. I was always considered athletic as I was a gymnast, and also very involved in riding and showing Arabian horses. I didn’t get super into fitness until I went through a breakup, fitness just helped me cope. I found myself way more excited than most of my friends or family to hit the gym, and I noticed that my day started revolving around when I was going to go to the gym as it was THAT BIG of a priority to me. I ran for the title of Miss WI USA two years in a row in hopes that someday, I could walk the Miss USA stage, however, that dream then shifted a bit when I did my first bikini competition. I did two bodybuilding shows back to back in the fall of 2017 and have not stepped on stage since. Though I have wanted to, I knew that my body needed some good time to bulk and I wanted to prioritize moving out to the west coast. What I also did not mention is that a lot of people know me for living a “double life.” I am also a singer and have been singing the National Anthem since I was in my early teens. I grew up singing at all of my high school athletic events which then shifted into singing for my college events as well, I went to the University of Wisconsin River Falls which was ten miles outside of where I grew up. In August of 2017, I actually got the privilege to fly down to Phoenix, Arizona where I had the sweet honor to sing at an Arizona Diamondback MLB game, they played the Dodgers. My double life now continues out here on the West Coast as I’m now into YouTube vlogging, and I just launched my own online personal training business. I am making my competition debut again this summer as I will compete in my very first WBFF Bikini competition at the WBFF Arizona show. I found an amazing coach, Paul Revelia (owner of Team Pro Physique) who will be prepping through my WBFF season. I am excited to see what my future holds!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would be lying if I said I didn’t go through any hardships since moving out to Los Angeles, but every day is a new adventure for me. The decision itself to move across the country was NOT an easy one. I left everyone and everything to move to a big city by MYSELF where I knew absolutely nobody. I am a huge “Momma’s girl” so the separation anxiety was real for a while. Also, I am a twin, so leaving my twin sister felt like I was leaving half of me back in WI. Shoutout to my entire family: Mom, Dad, twin sister Olivia, and older brother Alex for supporting me and my dreams, it was not easy on them but I know that they are rooting for me out here. Those that follow my Instagram saw one of the biggest struggles I was faced with since moving. I was dealing with some blood clotting in my legs for quite some time. I was diagnosed with a DVT in my left leg and then later another DVT in my right leg. I was forced to take two months off of any training in the gym and it was the most painful experience I had ever encountered. I think the worst part about it was I was all alone out here and it really taught me to sit back and see the little things life had to offer. Those few months were filled with nothing but struggle, but after that experience, I learned that there is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel. Here I am today, recovered and stronger than ever, getting ready for my first competition out here on the West Coast. I am a fighter, and a believer and I believe in myself and my purpose and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top. God is good.

We’d love to hear more about Amelia Skye Fitness.
As of right now, I’m focusing on expanding my online personal training services through the use of social media. I want to build an empire, a team that I can grow with. I want to teach people that there is more to fitness than just working out and eating healthy, fitness can be a fun lifestyle incorporated into your everyday life. On top of my business, I also have the ambition to become a pro-WBFF Bikini Diva and I am just starting my prep for my competition season and my WBFF debut this summer. Those are my two main focuses right now, however, I have more stuff in the works. I just take things day by day and I love to live by the saying “the sky is the limit” only in my words its “the sky is the limit.”

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking, in general?
My biggest advice for networking is to simply just talk. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to someone that you value and just be confident yourself, and your purpose. Confidence is KEY and will get you so far nowadays.
