Meet Timothy Nunez of Lamplight Movie Night

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Nunez.

Hi Timothy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before the conception of Lamplight, I launched No Solution Films as a way to tell stories on my own terms and build a creative foundation for projects that mattered to me. But as I got deeper into the industry, I realized that so many talented voices around me didn’t have a reliable platform to showcase their work. That’s what led to the creation of Lamplight Movie Night. I wanted to build something designed for the community, where filmmakers could not only screen their films but also connect with audiences and receive support. It started as a simple idea and is now growing into a recurring event supported by a team of passionate creatives and organizations who believe in the project.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting here hasn’t been easy. Starting something from the ground up, especially something so community and artist-driven comes with a lot of unknowns. There were logistical headaches, funding concerns, and moments where it felt like maybe the idea was too ambitious. But what kept me going was the determination to create space for film and those who appreciate the arts. I leaned heavily on the support of collaborators who shared that vision, and we kept moving forward one step at a time. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency and clarity of purpose matter more than having everything figured out right away.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is built around storytelling. As a filmmaker, I created No Solution Films as a production company that develops bold and emotionally resonant projects. But what I’m most known for right now is Lamplight Movie Night; a grassroots screening series I started to uplift independent filmmakers and foster deeper connections through film.
At Lamplight, we specialize in curating locally rooted film nights that feel more like community gatherings than formal screenings. We showcase work from emerging and underrepresented voices, especially those who may not have access to traditional industry platforms. There’s no velvet rope, no exclusivity, just a real love for storytelling and space for people to connect.
What sets us apart is that we’re not chasing trends or algorithms. We’re here to create meaning. Lamplight Movie Night isn’t about red carpets; it’s about conversations after the credits roll, and creating a space where someone sees their story reflected on screen for the first time. We prioritize intimacy over scale, authenticity over polish, and community over competition.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built with filmmakers who submit their work, and with the audience that keeps showing up. We’ve built a reputation for being inclusive and creatively driven. People know that when they come to a Lamplight event, they’re going to be a part of something incredible.
For readers who are curious about what we offer: we host regular screening nights, filmmaker spotlights, and collaborations with local venues like EPICENTER – Arts + Entertainment, and Inbetween Cafe and Bar. We’re also growing into workshops and expanded programming that supports early-career filmmakers. Whether you’re a director, an audience member, or someone who just loves cinema, Lamplight is a place for you.

At the end of the day, our mission is simple: support the storytellers, serve the community, and let the light shine.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
With anything artistic, there are plenty of obstacles: limited resources, unpredictable timelines, creative doubts, and the challenge of building something from scratch. What’s helped me push through all of that is having a clear sense of why I’m doing it. When the work is rooted in providing space for creativity to flourish, it becomes easier to stay the course.
