Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Braun.
Hi Tim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Tim Braun is an internationally renowned medium, and has conducted over 22,000 sittings over the past 28 years.
Born in Whittier, California, and as a USC graduate with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, he is the youngest of six children, and currently resides in Orange County.
It is Tim’s desire to heal those with grief of loss, and to re-establish the ties that we have lost with those who are no longer with us. Tim believes our love is the link that allows us to connect with those on the other side.
Many of Tim’s clients have had their lives changed dramatically, and have been given hope that there is a place of beauty and joy that exists at the end of our lives on this earth. Loved ones are there, and love doesn’t die, but is taken to this place called “the other side”.
He has been lecturing and reading for private clients for more than twenty-eight years. Hollywood celebrities, renowned athletes, and international corporate leaders have embraced Tim. He has appeared on television in Bravo’s “The Orange County Housewives” and the TLC network show, “Sin City Rules”, and has been interviewed on CBS/Radio: “Sunday’s with Rolonda” and “The Good Life Radio Canada.” He was also featured in LA.COM Network and Awareness Magazine. His first book “Life and Death”, was published in 2015 simultaneously in the United States, England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. His second book, “Afterlife” just came out in 2025. He has also done workshops, lectures and sittings in Japan, Greece, Ireland and Isreal.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I grew up in a very catholic household. I am the youngest of six kids. Four of my siblings did not support me. Only one of them did. The majority of them were non-believers in what I was doing.
When I was a kid, I would play outside for hours with my friend Joey. When Christmas time came, I asked my Mother to hang a stocking for Joey and my Mother told me there wasn’t a boy named Joey. She thought I was just playing outside by myself all those times, when really I was playing with my friend Joey, he was just in Spirit. Two months after this, my brother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, so my family thought that maybe I had an illness as well. I began to ignore Spirit as long as I could, until around my college years, when I couldn’t ignore it anymore. During my college years, I heard the same voice that I had heard when I was a child. I had a dream, or a vision, and it showed me working with Mother Teresa in India. Four months later, I was in India working with her. This was the beginning of my exploration with mediumship.
Besides going against the grain of my catholic family, it was also difficult to practice this gift and do the work I wanted to do with objections from other friends at the time. People’s skepticism has always been a challenge. Multiple times, I have had a person sit with me who would say that the only reason they came in to have a sitting with me, is because two or three of their friends, who did not know each other, had encouraged the client to come in. That situation can present a challenge becuase the client’s energy is closed off and difficult to connect with, but once we get started, I am able to validate details for them pretty quickly, and that is always the best part of this job. Watching someone leave my office lighter because of the validation we got from Spirit is priceless.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a Medium. I do five sittings a day, four days a week and I communicate with people who have passed over. While I consider myself psychic, I do not advertise myself as a psychic. I only practice mediumship. I like to say that all mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums. What sets me apart is that I am honest. I like to say, the less the medium knows, the better. I do not handle my scheduling, so I do not know who is coming in to sit until the day of. I start my sittings with a two minute guided meditation and I briefly let my clients know how it will work before I proceed with the sitting. I am very ethical. I do not want to know information during the sitting, as I said, the less the medium knows, the better. I want to be very honest and deliver exactly what I am being given from Spirit. Since they are using me as a voice box, it is very important to me that I am extremely honest. In the past, I did five, 700 seat shows at Pala Casino and I always know in large groups what is too personal to say in front of an audience, so sometimes, I would tell the person to talk to me after the show so I could deliver the message in private.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
One of the risks that I took was being invited by Pala Casino to do a 700 seat show, which I had never done before. I took the risk and was quite scared going in front of such a large audience, however, it was a complete success and Pala Casino invited me back four more times and all for 700 seat shows! I was also on the billboard at that time with Kathy Griffin and Olivia Newton John, so the risk paid off!
Also, everytime I go out in public to do a show, I am risking that I might not perform well or I might not hear Spirit clearly. I take the risk that I could flop on stage, but when it comes down to it, I trust Spirit, and so I take the risk.
It is also a risk to tell people what they need to hear and not what they want to hear. I take the risk of not being so popular because sometimes the sittings can be tough. Spirit is very honest! I like to say that sittings aren’t always milk and cookies. Having a sitting is not always easy, and I take the risk by telling the truth and maybe it makes the client feel uncomfortable, but Spirit knows that it’s what they need to hear at that time.
Another major risk I took was choosing to leave a secure job in the entertainment industry at Paramount Pictures in order to do this work full time. That was almost thirty years ago and I haven’t looked back!
