Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Baca.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Theresa. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I began doing makeup at 18, finishing beauty school then working at Jose Eber Salon in Beverly Hills. There I did a makeup lesson, application, and makeovers for television. I did my first movie at 20 in Greece with Patricia Arquette, Joely Fisher, and Tricia Leigh Fisher. I stayed in Europe traveling and working for five months then returned home to start Working for Betsey Johnson retail.
After a ten year hiatus from makeup, I decided it was time to return to my artist creative love. I began again by working at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills. Three years of retail finally segued into commercial and video work. I’ve been blessed to do make up as a career this time for 20 years.
Every day doing makeup is a blessing and doesn’t feel like work. If anyone out there is considering doing makeup for a career, do it. It’s the best job that Is not a job.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been times in early years as a freelancer that jobs were not as abundant, but then the phone rings and a job comes just in time.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a freelance Make up Artist. I’m known for doing natural beauty makeup and hair for headshots, portraits and red carpet events.
I am proud of the work I do making people feel good about how they look for whatever they are doing that day. What sets me apart are is that I do make and hair. Most people can usually do one or the other.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
L.A. Is a wonderful city to do makeup and hair. The best schools and so many opportunities.
