Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Fedotova.
Hi Tatiana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My magic journey started seven years ago. I live in Hollywood and I feel like living there fills my life with miracles. Finding the Magic Castle was one of these miracles. I used to live across the road from the Castle, and one day on my birthday, I was invited to the club and it changed my life ever since. I realized that I felt a part of the magic and performance even when I wasn’t. Then I was accepted into the Academy of Magical Arts. I became a teacher’s assistant for Mentalism classes. While still a student, I even performed in two shows. I’m very lucky I had the opportunity to collaborate with the stars of magic from the very start of my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe that every career has challenges, but if you have a true passion and you follow it, everything will be great. There was a time when I withdrew myself from magic completely and decided it wasn’t for me because I was comparing myself to other magicians who were in the industry from childhood; I thought I could never be like them. In general, Los Angeles is very competitive in terms of entertainers; it’s also because we have Magic Castle where world-famous magicians perform. The standards are high here, you need to be really good, but it’s great! Still, I learned not to pay attention to what other people say, especially in the business. It’s a competition and everyone has their own opinion. One day a person might like the show, another day he might not for reasons completely irrelevant to the performance. I learned to improve little by little and to pay attention to people who inspired and encouraged me. I’ll always remember them. I know now that I need to just do what I love, work hard, and my audience will always appreciate it. Hard work always pays off.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty in magic is mentalism; it’s not a very common type of magic, but it’s my true passion. I love making people happy and surprise them so the audience can have a great time. I believe that’s the whole purpose of an entertainer. I’m mostly known for my extensive traveling. I traveled even during Covid, I’ve traveled with shows and magic lessons in three different countries and seven different cities during the pandemic within four months. It was dangerous but it’s already a part of my life.
How do you think about luck?
I consider everything that happened to me in my life and career to be nothing but luck. I honestly feel like I didn’t work hard to be where I am right now. It just happened itself somehow, miraculously. Every day I thank the Universe for all these miracles and opportunities. Also, I am a spiritual person, so we believe in this kind of things.
